I loved the concept, the different characters and the setting of this book. I just wish it had been edited better and that the story had a little more direction. It felt like things were just happening. I really enjoyed the premise though. Currently deciding if I have the patience to read the second book. The way it ended on a cliffhanger leaves you little choice. The author was smart for that!

I was so excited for the premise of this book. It had all the makings to be great. The Underground Railroad turned into a fantasy hideout… that is perfect. However, the execution just wasn’t there. The writing style was very broken and amateur. There were so many plot holes and the pacing was really bad. It felt like nothing really happened for 60% of the book.
