I have been WAITING for months to get into the Drew Collin’s series. So many people have recommended it to me and I’ve only seen positive reviews with 4+ stars.

This slow paced paranormal fantasy makes you want to attend a magical HBCU. The characters are multilayered & relatable. The storyline gives you multiple POVs which elevates the story.

Overall, I was a bit underwhelmed. The world building was slow and detailed but the book didn’t really lead to anything in the end that would have me “hooked” enough to eagerly move on to book II.

New to urban fantasy

This book was good. I did audio. It has multiple MC so it’s a bit hard to keep up with everyone and their relation/fantasy origin etc. definitely can’t wait to dive in to part II tho

A lot of world building and stops right when it seems like things are about to get going… but the characters are fun and I enjoyed getting to know them and this world. Definitely more of a part one of a larger story than a standalone book.

The book was good but not great. Hear me out, I never thought I’d say this but there is a such thing as too descriptive. Describing fits head to toe & often is wild (there’s a LOT of characters to keep up with). The plot had so much potential but it didn’t really complete until the end (and of course there’s a book 2). It’s giving all American homecoming like the tv show but with magic, however, there wasn’t enough fantasy in this book (opinion) and we didn’t get much on her bloodline.

I don’t plan to continue but it’s a solid book.
slow-paced

Hillman College meets Girlfriends and adds Charmed. It was FANTASTIC!! The audio was really good too… dual narration but well done.

As a black woman I LOVED this! The vernacular, tone, DESCRIPTIONS!!! I usually zone out for extensive descriptions but with THIS I liiiived for every description of locs and melanated skin of all hues! They played SPADES bro!

Now on to the actual book……..fight me……fight me for building up these stories then leaving it like that
