This is my second Ashley Winstead novel, and it will also be my last
I really don’t know how I feel about this. On the one hand, I loved the academia setting and the way we kept getting tidbits about each character through flashbacks and seeing old and new secrets come to light. That being said, I don’t understand the killer. I don’t. And I so badly wanted to. I wanted to be shocked as all heck when I finally read who did it and wanted to be able to go back and connect things about them in that “aha” moment but I just couldn’t.

Six friends. One college reunion. One unsolved murder. One of them did it. When they get together, they will be forced to expose their secrets in order to figure out this decade old mystery.
Even though I really didn’t like anyone, and oh man did I wish more people ended up dead for what they did, I loved this book. This book goes to show that you can dislike everyone but still love the book. The story was a whole lot of fun. I mean, even though everyone sucked, some of the reasons they sucked made sense and made them semi likable. For example, the blonde rich girl, who’s addicted to diet pills and puts everyone else down, at least didn’t try to hide the fact that she was a royal b!tch – she owned it. Overall, this was the most fun thriller I’ve read in a while
Wow! That ending was amazing. It took me a moment to completely get into this one. I was a bit bored in the beginning, but the middle and end had me hooked. 4.5
At times I was bored but before that boredom could make me put this book down another piece of the mystery came to light. This was masterfully done and earns every bit of its psychological thriller name. I would have loved to get to know Caro and Jack a bit more as characters. Jessica is vapid and annoying for most of the book but even that is done with purpose. The ending…. Was not expecting that but what a way to wrap things up!
Solid 4/5
* Quick read
* Nice twists
* No one is really likeable, but they are interesting
I like the setting in the book, but the author doesn't really capture the area. I lived in that area of NC and it was described very broadly and had no real personality. If you like dark academia books, this is a good one. Kinda soapy thriller.

I loved this book, I don’t care what anyone says. This book is the definition of a fast paced thriller, every page had a new twist and surprise. I literally couldn’t put this book down it was that good. The ending was amazing everything culminates into one giant reveal, one that i personally didn’t see coming.
Characterization was done very well the main friend group felt like real college kids. With all the flaws, tribulations and successes of real life people. The only complaint I have is id love to have learned more about Heather.
Overall would recommend if you have a free evening and are looking for a new thriller!
