I absolutely ADORED this book. Lou is seriously one of my top 5 favorite female leads. She's thick, hilarious, quirky, sexy, and while she does have a few self-doubts, she's confident and happy with HERSELF.

Abel is...amazing. I loved everything about his character. He is drawn to Lou from their first phone conversation. He never looks at her or treats her like she's weird and instead he becomes head over heels for her.

So. Damn. Sweet.

I just can't even explain. LOVE.

This was my first Micalea Smeltzer book and I can't believe I waited that long. This was a sweet and funny and overall super delicious read. Like a pink Starburst.

I was so excited for this book. Micalea Smeltzer is quickly becoming one of my go to authors. There are not many books in which the heroine is actually a plus-sized woman with confidence. It was incredibly refreshing to read about these characters.

Lou suddenly needs a roommate after her landlord raises her rent. She posts an add and Abel, a star football player, answers it. Abel and Lou have instant chemistry, though Lou does not necessarily believe that Abel could be interested in someone like her. Will Lou be able to find comfort in Abel and will she open up to being with a man who is sweet, fun, and caring?

Overall, I enjoyed reading this book. With that being said, I am giving the book four stars because so much of it revolved around food. Plus-size people think and talk about things outside of food. It was hard to find a chapter, let alone a page, without Lou mentioning food or Abel thinking about the food that Lou was eating. I think that this made Lou's character a bit less vibrant because while people do eat and think about food, it is generally not something that people are constantly talking about. However, this is still a book that should be read as Lou and Abel are a fun and sexy couple that are sure to entertain.

3.5 stars. This was a cute romance, but a few things about it bugged me. I was so excited to see that there was body-loving, sassy, smart, fat-girl rep. But....she body shamed other people multiple times. When Kit is mean about her body, we're supposed to get riled up, but she's mean about his body multiple times. She's mean about random skinny girls who piss her off, calling them "skinny bitch" as if their size has something to do with how they acted to her, but if someone called her a "fat bitch" that wouldn't have been ok. I also wasn't a fan of the violence aimed at douche-bag characters. Yeah, they were slimy and gross, but we're supposed to cheer on Miranda when she hunts Kit down and tackles him, not letting him up? If a guy did that to her, we'd be outraged. Not to mention that Lou assumes people are turning her down for her size, when it could be any number of reasons. I'm not saying that's not a reason sometimes, because of course we know it is, but she's flat out hostile to someone who says she's not their type for good reason. I was bummed at her inability to trust (although of course that moved the plot along)

Stuff I didn't like out of the way, I thought the romance itself was sweet and cute. And I loved Guilia (the mom that she's babysitting for) probably because she felt so relatable - her and her husband were adorable, and her "go do young people stuff" and the conversation about how she's thirty-one and old was exactly how I feel at 29 with 2 kids LOL. I loved how Lou looked at fate : "I don't believe fate is not having any choice, I feel like it's the guiding light" I liked that we got not one epilogue, but two, for two windows into their life after.

When Lou is in search of a new roommate so she doesn't get evicted, she doesn't expect Abel Russo to be the one to reply. Star football player, and as far as Lou knows, a womanizer and jerk. It shouldn't be too hard to not fall for him. Except he's hot. And when that pairs with how he looks at her... She might be getting more than just a roommate.

This is the first book I read by Michalea Smeltzer, and let me say I was def not disappointed. The cover was hot & fun, the tagline drew you in, and so did the blurb. Lou was relatable, funny, and just so real. Abel wasn't what I was expecting either. It was funny, and a great read. If you are looking for your next RomCom, then this is it! 4.5⭐ out of 5⭐.

This book was SO fun. Abel is a football star, a Mr. Popular needing a place to live and Lou is a quirky girl looking for a roommate.

I love a confident plus size girl! Especially when the she is loved for who she is and the focus isn’t just on her size. There is a little bit of that here.. but the story was just so good and Lou was just such a good character, it didn’t bother me.

And Abel..
