The rules of dating my bestfriends sister is a stand alone within a series. This story is about Holden Catalano, and Laney (Lala) Ellison.

Laney is Holdens bestfriends would had passed away, Holden knew he should have stayed away from Laney when she came to New York for a research project. But the attraction between Laney and Holden was too much.

I loved seeing Holden get the girl and how much he changed from the beginning of the book to the end. He is the bad boy type that you don’t want to bring home to your parents. And Laney is the shy and quiet type, and oh do those opposites attract.

This was a slow burn, but it was such a good book! I loved every minute of it.

I'm really conflicted by my rating. Maybe 3 stars if I can get past the emotional cheating.

I don't like cheating in books and while I will go along with a book that toes the line in emotional cheating, this one was there until...it wasn't. I'm sorry, phone sex is cheating! Even them trying to justify it doesn't justify it! How is phone sex with a guy you're already basically emotionally cheating with okay?

My other problem was the end of the book. WHY was an accidental pregnancy needed? Were they really not able to communicate with each other on how they felt and give up some of their aspirations for each other rather than because "we have a baby on the way!" I have a lot of problems with pregnancies used as a way to 'fix' things because a child never makes things easier. So, I had issues with that ending too. It wasn't even so much of the "drama" building aspect of the book. It kind of was just "Oh, I'm pregnant" and then the book finished (mostly). Did not enjoy that.

With that said, I did like Holden and Lala together. I actually like the group of best friends a lot, which is why I will read book 3 too. Also, I read everything Keeland and Ward and I'm HOPING book 3 will be better (please don't be an accidental pregnancy!).

This book had so much potential, but it fell flat for me. I was hooked on Holden and Laney's story, but it took forever for things to get interesting. The story had its moments and kept me engaged, even though it didn't fully captivate me. Despite my reservations, I can recognize the book's merits and appreciate the effort put into crafting it. It may not have been my favorite, but I can see why others might enjoy it.

Lala and Holden were a breath of fresh air. This was a beautiful best friend sister love story. Holden always had a crush on Lala but she never knew. Years later they are in the same place and feelings are finally revealed. They have several moments and funny that even from the grave her brother approved and it was the sweetest thing. Their group of friends were hilarious and they were a true family and had each others backs. Loved loved loved how their love story turned into and how it ended.

No me interesan los personajes y el conflicto/final es predecible. Ya no le veía sentido a seguir leyendo.
