Did not finish this. It was too hard to follow and the plot did not hold my attention.

This book was a very fast read. I really enjoyed all of the characters and the story line. I definitely recommend this book to anyone that likes Harry Potter. I hope that there is a sequel.

Am I the target audience for a paranormal romance fantasy cozy mystery knitting series? You betcha I am. And this one is charmingly written, which is a bonus, because it could have been a lot sillier and I still would have liked it. PARANORMAL ROMANCE KNITTING MYSTERY!!!!! Like wow. I love it. I mean, of course it is mildly cheesy, and the mystery is perfunctory at best, and there were a lot of missing commas, but the author is CLEARLY a knitter, and it was just a super enjoyable read. A-.

Do you believe in the magic of true love?

Chloe may be the daughter of a sorceress, but her father was a human, and up to now, she has no magical abilities whatsoever. The problem is the town’s future is in her hands.

Enter Luke MacKenzie. He is her one true love, but where do they go from here? He’s pure human, and a cop to top it off. What happens when he finds out what is really going on in Sugar Maple? Their romance develops quickly, but I got so caught up in the story that it was believable. They were meant for each other.

The seconday characters were a great bunch of off-beat friends and neighbors. I was sad about the fate of one of them, though. I really loved Gunnar and wanted him to have his own happily ever after. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like that will happen. On the other, the story continues in Laced with Magic, so maybe with magic, there’s still hope.

Love and magic are knitted together to make this a wonderfully enjoyable, light paranormal romance. You’ll be holding your breath, hoping Chloe will get the happily-ever-after ending she longs for.

The author writes this story from multiple characters perspectives. This is not my cup of tea. I prefer either Point Of View from main character or just the lovely Oh Mighty Narrator.

I really did enjoy this book. I loved the Starts Hollow-esq nature of Sugar Maple. I liked the mix of supernatural beings all in one town. I just took issue with a few things. The first (and biggest) is the author's depiction of New England. How does a cop that works in Boston get transferred to a town in Vermont? Does she know that New England isn't one state? The whole 'live free or die' thing? Yeah, not all New Englanders go around proclaiming how they would rather die than not be free. That's not to mention her issue of geography. Luke lived in a town between New Bedford and Salem? LOL! The whole east coast of Massachusetts is between New Bedford (which is close to the Rhode Island border) and Salem. I'm also not sure I really bought the romance between Chloe and Luke. There really were no qualities listed as to why Chloe loved Luke. What was it about him that attracted her? As for Luke, the only thing he really mentioned was her looks (and even then her skinny body and small boobs seemed to be written about with a sense of derision). The ending also seemed really rushed. I know this sounds like a bunch of complaints, but it is a cute book. It's very sweet and a quick read.

a knitting, witch/vampire/etc., murder mystery, romance novel turns out to be a little bit too much for me. I guess when you have the library send you a bunch of novels with "knitting" in the subject category, sight-unseen, they aren't all going to be wonderful.

This was a very cute book. Un-magical (or is she?) human Chloe is Sugar Maple's only hope to keep the town's protective enchantments alive. Enter Boston cop Luke, investigating the only death Sugar Maple has seen in centuries. Predictably sparks fly(literally) between Chloe and Luke even thought she knows she shouldn't be with a human. Add in a best fairy friend who loves her, an evil fairy trying to take over the town, and the town itself filled with goblins, vampires, and selkies, and well, what's not to love?
