Ughhhh! Screaming into the void! I did not just read damn near 700 pages for this to be the outcome. Where tf is Rookesbane Eveningstar and who is this imposter you’ve replaced her with. What the heck was this! What do you mean there’s no fucking apologies for Soren’s behavior. The hot springs scene was awkward. Also wtf do you mean Pem is dead and Rooke is going to die!?

Coming back to add that i think this book got butchered in whatever last edit that delayed the release. The more i think about it the more this makes the most sense. This just doesn’t feel like the novellas or the first book.

This was so disappointing after how good the first book was, this was just confusing and clunky. I was so lost so many times!

I still really like the characters and relationship, but sad it didn’t live up to my expectations after loving book one.

Soren's character took a total 180 from page 1 of this book vs all of the first book. Still overbearingly toxic AF though. The POV was centered around him more too, so he started to feel more like the 'main' character (which i wasn't a fan of).

Rooke was too secretive, forgiving, and passivw this whole book. It just felt like a downgrade for her character overall.

The plot was pretty aimless and this book needed editing soooo bad (typos, repetition, pacing, etc.).

The ending was kinda confusing but the reveal did surprise me, so that was cool. Too bad it eliminated my favorite character though (Pemba was a real one).

I'm still kinda looking forward to the next book, if only to see her household interact with all the established characters.
