Needed some serious editing. Sad, because it could have been such a good one!

The long awaited sequel shattered me. Pure 5 ⭐️, just for the amount of gasps I made while reading.
The writing is a bit clumsy and sometimes I had to reread parts as it was not consistent but the emotional pull this story has makes it all minuscule.

On a side note, to all the 1 ⭐️ givers due to the badly handled release, you need to check yourself and your privilege. If your bad review causes a delay in the 3rd book, I’ll be coming for you, Soren style.

I’d give this more stars if I could. Did I get everything I wanted out of it? No. Did I get everything I didn’t know I needed out of it? YES. She nailed it. I loved every second. Her writing and storytelling just gets better and better.

There was not enough grovelling for my liking and the relationship was still something I really didn't care for. How possessive and demanding Soren was after the way he treated her was really not for me, and I would still be quite happy if he died. It seemed like Rooke forgave him way too easily and she became a little too meek for my liking, especially after the strength of will she had displayed in the previous book. I hate Soren and will never forgive him, but knowing what type of book this is I at least wanted him to get on his knees for her and stow the alpha male bullshit and beg for her forgiveness, but that never really happens.
A lot of the book felt quite slow though, but damn if that ending didn't get me again. It feels a little bit Sarah J. Maas with Aelin holding back information from her allies and the reader and having a big reveal, but it was a fun ending
when we have the Reborn witches appear as her family after hearing how much people are terrified of their power,
and I do love a woman just being a badass with a plan.
This was very much a bridge book, but I am looking forward to what comes next with that cliffhanger ending, but this did leave much to be desired. There were a fair few errors littered throughout with the sentence structuring which I thought would have been picked up through editing, and it did feel a little less polished overall than the first book. Still a fun time for sure, but not a standout by any means.

Just pausing for now. I think I will revisit when this comes out on audio or closer to when the next book comes out
