I loved the first two books in this series but I was let down with Riordan and Cassie's story. I loved them both in the other books, but something about their up and down on and off again chemistry didn't work well. I struggled to invest in them and found a lot of the plot reveals and twists to be an attempt at shocking but they fell flat, as if the author couldn't make her mind on how she wanted to end this series. The spice, the skeleton crew all get 10/10 for me. Cass and Rio? Solid 4/10.

I'll admit, this book frustrated me. The twists, turns, and overall plot kept me reading and invested, but the relationship between the two main characters was so odd to me. I know "obsession" is straight up in the title but to have BOTH main characters have the exact same type of obsession felt forced to me, I guess? I was excited to see how their story developed but was a bit underwhelmed. The plot and resolution, however, was great. I will read the next series since I'm invested in the set of characters, but I do hope the relationships are a little better.
ALSO! Am I the only one who noticed how the last time Cassie got restrained by an unknown person, it just fell off??? Did the author forget that she ended a chapter that way?? It will forever peeve me because I was very curious to see where that was headed and then BAM. Never referenced again...

This has been my favorite of their series so far! Cassie is hilarious. And I think this book showed the most character development out of the three. But the beauty of this series is you still get to watch previous characters change and grow with each story. While the plot wasn’t quite as gripping as the first two, the mystery that endures throughout the series is so fun! I absolutely loved the interactive clues. 10/10 recommend if you’re into dark female bosses and the possessive men that worship them.
