this felt like a side quest book. like yes the plot moved forward but it doesn’t feel like it. very character oriented which isn’t bad and i’m sure will pay off later

2.5 stars ✨
First of all: I like the Witcher.
I truly like the Witcher.
But I simply can’t understand how a book written like this could pass editors.
The only problem with the Witcher is that the author is not good at writing.
There were little improvement but they drown when in the last 2 chapter (chapters with an amazing plot I must say) the author chose to try different type of writing changing different styles even in the same page!
Why?
This plus the fact that the plot didn’t exist and for 4 chapters on 7 nothing plot related happened.
Plus the fact that apparently the character materialize in different place because he almost never explain how they arrived here and how they met other characters.
Also why we never read chapter from Geralt pov?! He’s the protagonist!
And other two questions:
- Why are they speaking Latin? This is not a Roman inspired novel so I cannot understand
- What make holy water “holy”? They are not Christians
