There are several things that need polishing with regards to the lore. For example, they should make it a legal obligation for Deckers to have some clear indicator that they are Deckers, for the benefit of the public. Or as utilitarian as it sounds, illegalise Deckers from leaving their houses. Also, most if not all of the deaths described were self-fulfilling prophecies, which is kind of…

Those aside, feels like there’s a ton of untapped potential with the concept of the Death-Cast which I’d be really interested to see explored in more depth.

Also personal nitpick, but not too big a fan of the
instalove aspect?

I've never had a book make me question my entire life until now. This book centers around life and death and how they are always and forever will be intertwined. There's nothing anyone can do about that, but live like you are dying (makes me think of my favorite country song, I love that!).

Mateo and Rufus warmed by heart from beginning to end. I rode this journey with them - this beautiful 24-hour experience of living life to the fullest. Every piece was beautiful and enriched the story. Every moment intertwined and showed how Mateo and Rufus made contact with so many people without knowing it.

I loved the structure so much. With each new name and timestamp, I fell deeper into the story. What a beautiful way to ponder life.

This book quite literally changed my world view on so many things. I cried for three days and it is so worth it. One of the best books I have ever read in my entire life.

Pacing is immaculate, voice actors are captivating (even the DC voice!), and the world building is just fascinating enough to want to know more

Not sure what it was about this book, but it just did not grab my attention. I wanted to DNF it several times and didn't just because I was holding out hope based on the other books that I read that he co-authored with Becky Albertalli ("What If It's Us" and "Here's to Us"). There were moments that captured my attention, like Mateo coming out of his shell and becoming more comfortable as well as building his relationship with Rufus. The concept of someone receiving a call telling them what day they are going to die is crazy and the whole culture is just centered around that.
