Another great installment in this series. I really like these characters and how they all keep involved in each progressive book. Elle and Archer both have had rough lives and are equally tough in how they handle their lives. They definitely aren't ready to deal with feelings for each other.

Okay, so in all honesty, this is probably my least favorite Shalvis book to date. Hey, I've read so many books by this author it was bound to happen, right?

Anyway, here's the thing. For, like, the first half of the book I really really really didn't like the story. There were some incredibly dumb moments in it (like the email thing. Seriously, wtf? Why not just send another email apologizing?), and occasionally the writing felt a little choppy which is weird because I never felt this way about any other Shalvis book??

I also found Elle a bit pathetic at the beginning. Because she is such a badass, and she thinks the right things -- that she deserves a guy who wants her. And she does. And yet... she falls right back so easily. The fact I as the reader know she is wrong about Archer's emotional involvement doesn't help, because she truly doesn't.

I wasn't a big fan of their chemistry, either. Like, once they got their heads out of their asses, it was okay. But the rest of the time I felt like it was all physical, and I was told they respected each other and felt other things about each other a lot but it took a long time for me to actually feel it. Which is another thing that usually doesn't happen with Shalvis - most of the time she has a knack for making me 100% believe in her couples.

Elle Wheaten has her priorities straight friends, career, and shoes or she thinks she does. Until she's in the presence of the muscular wall of stubbornness, security expert, Archer Hunt, who comes before everything else. From the second they met eleven years ago they've denied their attraction for each other, until she comes into his office to yell at him about squirrels and her sister comes to town. However, she has an idea that consists of dating other men until she's able to get over Archer... which doesn't stand a chance at working.

Archer has watched over Elle since the night he sacrificed his law enforcement career in order to save her. She has made something for herself and he doesn't feel like he's good enough for her, so he's standing back and keeping her safe. However, he still wants her and their chemistry is strong enough it could cause an explosion. He stands back wondering if she ever thinks about the night he saved her life and discovers that she carries a part of him with her. The knife he gave her. He's been watching her date other guys and each time sabotages her date in some way, because he can't stand it.

When Elle gets mad and things between them start to heat up. Archer has a mission that involves proving to Elle that they're perfect together. Will Elle forgive Archer for his interference? Will the mess Elle's sister has made of her life come back and effect the life Elle has built?

Jill Shalvis has written a winner. I love all her books, but this one is my new favorite!! I loved the characters and their interactions especially Spence and Elle they make such great friends. Archer and Elle were hilarious and had some of the best chemistry I've seen in a long time. She may always be mad at him but he takes it in stride and makes up for it. I'm glad that we got to see these two see each other exposed and vulnerable when they try to always be put together and shut off from the rest of the world. Great new book and one I highly RECOMMEND!!

This was really a 3.5 for me. I was so glad to finally get Elle and Archer's story, but there are some aspects of the series continuity that are handled a little sloppily.

This review and many more can be found on my blog: Feed Your Fiction Addiction

Once again, Jill Shalvis gives us memorable friendships, a steamy romance, witty banter and slightly broken protagonists who are just doing their best to keep it all together—sometimes successfully. The result is a romance that’s easy to connect to and a lot of fun.

What Fed My Addiction:

A past connection.
Just like in the last two books in the series (or, at least, the book and novella—I still need to get my hands on the first book and read it), the two main characters have a connection that stems from the distant past. In this case, we learn right away that Archer saved Elle in some way when she was sixteen, but the details of what happened unfold throughout the book (so I won’t spoil them!)—all we know for sure is that Elle and Archer have a complicated past and their feelings about that past hold them back from jumping into a romance because of feelings of guilt and what Archer fears might be a misplaced sense of obligation on Elle’s part. I enjoyed learning the mystery of what exactly went on that fateful night slowly but surely (Shalvis doles out just enough information to keep us satisfied but holds back enough to keep us interested).

Archer.
Archer is the kind of tough guy you kind of can’t help but love. He’s been holding himself back from moving in on Elle for a year (or, really, MUCH longer) because he doesn’t want to be a reminder of Elle’s worst moment or allow her to be with him because she feels she owes him. But the idea of her with someone else … kind of kills him. I loved that even though it took him a little while to jump into a romance with Elle, once he was in, he was in—there was no wishy-washiness on his part!

Elle.
Elle is strong and independent, but definitely vulnerable where Archer’s concerned. She has a hard time letting people in because of her past, yet she’s managed to form a strong web of friends and people who love her to make up for the lack of family connection.

Friendships!
This series features such a fantastic group of friends. I want to be part of their group!

What Left Me Hungry for More:

A little stalkerish.
Okay, so Archer works in security and he has the means to keep tabs on Elle—and he has. You don’t know the entire extent of it until later in the book, so I won’t spoil it, but he’s kind of kept Elle on his radar for the past eleven years. I mean, you understand why—he has the very best of intentions—but if you look at it from a real-world perspective it does border on being possibly creepy. I almost felt like Elle let him off the hook for that a little too easily. (But, then again, by that time in the romance, I don’t know if I could have stood more waffling on Elle’s part, so …)

If you’re a fan of Shalvis, I think you’ll find this book is everything you’re looking for. These are definitely standalones, so if you haven’t picked up the series yet, feel free to dive right in with this book. I give this one 4/5 stars!

This cover does not match the content of this book at all. All Shalvis books are different but I didn't like this one.

I have been dying for Ellie and Archer ever since book one of this series. Their chemistry has been off the charts since they were introduced. Now, this being a book by Jill Shalvis, I was laughing out loud as I watched Ellie and Archer fall in love (and admit it to themselves). I don't want to summarize the story, but favorites from the previous books definitely make an appearance in this one. That being said, this book is a standalone and can be read without reading the other books in this series. I absolutely loved this book and give it a solid 5 stars. I look forward to more from Jill Shalvis.

I couldn't wait to read Archer and Elle's story when I first met them in The Trouble With Mistletoe and when I saw that Accidentally on Purpose was their story - well, you can imagine how excited I was for it! But of course, with me being me, I waited quite a bit longer than I needed to before I actually read and oh, I could just kick myself for waiting so long because it was amazing. It truly was and I deeply, wholeheartedly loved Accidentally on Purpose!

Man, that Elle is one tough cookie - seriously, she is made of steel! She's strong and independent, bossy and sassy, and fierce and confident. Elle is always okay even when she's not, she isn't afraid to stand up to Archer or tell him what to do - she has no fear. Sure, she's not always the warmest, most open person in the world and while she doesn't let her vulnerability show all the time, you do get to see the softer side to her as well. Elle is a bada*s, she's loyal to a fault, and there wasn't much that I didn't love about her - she's incredible.

Archer can be very frustrating at times and make you want to shake some sense into him, but he's impossible not to love. It's so obvious how much he cares for and about Elle and how she gets in past his barriers despite all his defenses and his intentions. Archer is noble and protective and honorable - he takes care of and watches over his people. He is such a great guy, perhaps even the best ever, and he completely and utterly stole my heart!

The main reason that I was so excited to for Archer and Elle's story was their whole love/hate, we-have-major-chemistry-and-sexual-tension thing going on. It is quite possibly one of my favorite troupes and Accidentally on Purpose certainly delivered that. It was an inferno of passion, sparring, and lust, but then it would calm down just enough for you to cool down while still feeling all warm, toasty, and melty inside. Accidentally on Purpose was beautiful, heartache-y, sweet, steamy, and heartwarming. It was positively brilliant and I hope that Ms. Shalvis has plenty more to come in this series because I just love and adore these wonderful characters!

Accidentally on Purpose is the third book in the Heartbreaker Bay series, but can be read as a standalone. It's told from Archer and Elle's POV, and yes, they do get their happily-ever-after and yes, it will make grin and melt!

Again, my main issue with this Jill Shalvis is that it is the last book in the series. I honestly hate it when her series end. You are getting to know all of the characters and the location and BAM!!!! You realize that this lovely fictional neighborhood and the characters is no more.

Elle has some pretty simple priories in life - her friends, her career, and very importantly, SHOES!!!! Elle had a hard start to life and while she tries to keep that hidden from everyone; Archer knew Elle before she was a responsible adult. And this bothers her a lot more than it should.

Archer had been a police officer when he made a decision that saved Elle but in the long run cost him his career. Elle has believed that she is why he left the police force. Yet, Archer left the police force because he felt it was the best decision for him. He is now the owner of a very elite private security firm. And his office is in the same building that Elle manages.

Every time, Archer and Elle are in the same room, everyone else can feel and see the sparks that flash between these two. But Elle refuses to see the sparks and that her perfect mate is actually Archer. Archer thinks that no male she dates is good enough nor will they ever be good enough for her. So he decides to make her see that he is the perfect man for her and the fun begins.

Clear your calendar and make sure to put up a do not disturb sign. Stock up on your favorite beverage and some good chocolate prior to settling in to read this book. You will love it!

Archer is so freaking hot! Elle and Archer are the best together!! So much sniping and sarcastic quips. They each think the other isn't interested but they both are! It's hilarious to watch.
