This one is on Prime Reading, and it starts a little complicated. Normally, I carry characters in my head with little trouble. I honestly considered making a chart for this one because Sabrina Jeffries must have been feeling Russian. Everyone has multiple names and nicknames (and fathers and cousins and brothers...I'm telling you it felt a bit Anton Chekov there with all the names!) But once I sorted out who everyone was, this was a great read! I am going to have to hurry up and read the rest of the series so I don't get confused about who is who. Grey and Beatrice are adorable! Can't wait for the rest of these kids to find their HEA! Happy Reading!
I barely remember this book.
I don't think that Jeffries writing style is for me. I just don't love how her books are paced. I have the next 2 books in the series to read, so I'll see if those work better for me.
I do remember enjoying the secondary characters way more than the main ones.

At less than 300 pages, this book is a breeze. Unfortunately, the murder mystery aspect is left up in the air - I'm hoping it will be resolved in book 2 and not just totally abandoned??

Liked the banter and murder mystery side plot
I forgot how much I love Sabrina Jeffries books. I always get sucked into them and just want to keep reading. I will definitely be returning to this series. I'm very curious to see how the mystery works itself out.
*I received a copy of Sabrina Jeffries’s Project Duchess through Historical Fiction Virtual Book Tours. As always, this review reflects only my honest thoughts on the book.*
What I think I liked best—besides the dogs—was the familial relationships that are so important to both characters and plot. Yes, this is a romance, and that relationship is central and critical. But even that would not be if it weren’t for the strong family ties that bind both Grey and Beatrice to those they hold most dear.
The protagonists come from troubled pasts, riddled with abuse and denial thereof. They’ve hidden the darkness of their histories from nearly everyone, including themselves. Yet they’re fiercely loyal to their families, particularly their siblings, nevertheless.

Grey and Beatrice both have issues and secrets, but they spend a lot of time getting to know one another. Their romance develops quite quickly, but it is full of passion and mutual respect. They have some hiccups to their HEA, but they eventually get there.
Grey and Beatrice bicker right along with all of the other siblings in the house. It was so much fun to read because I’ve known big loving families who bickered just that way. Grey can’t believe he’s attracted to Beatrice – but he is – and he won’t allow it. He’s in full control of himself and will not allow it. Right . . . We all know how that’s going to end.
There is a light murder mystery that adds interest and intrigue to the base romance. The practical Beatrice is impressive in her outlook but a bit too easily seduced.
I am looking forward to reading more from Sabrina Jeffries and the Duke dynasty series.

I liked this more than I thought I would. I guess I'm just a sucker for historical romances centering around large families. Grey and Beatrice were lovely together, and they were pretty funny. I also loved the whole family. I'm excited to get to the rest of the books now.
