Really liked this one, Grey and Beatrice are a very nice couple and you can feel the chemistry between them.
This was a lovely, quick read. I can always count on Ms. Jeffries to deliver a good, sweet historical romance.
I had some difficulty getting into it the first 3 chapters or so but later the story picked up and I got engrossed. It kept me engaged and wanting to read it until the very end. I loved the plot and the back story of the five siblings with different fathers and their mother and the mystery with the murder (although I'm a little mad it didn't get resolved -yet). Grey is interesting and very smart and Beatrice is strong and stubborn, she was a delight! She is strong and spirited, and holds her own with Grey quite well. They make a good pair. The chemistry and repartee between them was excellent. I loved the richness of the characters and the story line. The ending made me happy even if it was a little sappy (but not too sappy).
Silly title aside, if you ever need a book that'll satisfy your need of happy ending then this is it. Oh and also, look at that gorgeous cover, it's impossible to resist it.
***I received the ARC for free from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I liked the beginning of the book. It goes a little too fast at the end.
Moderate: Child abuse, Death, Emotional abuse, Sexual assault, Death of parent, Murder, Abandonment, Sexual harassment
Minor: War
2.5 stars because overall it was a pretty boring book with too much inner dialogue. I'm actually surprised that I finished it but I'll be honest and own that I skimmed through the lengthy parts. The next book sounds interesting and I am considering reading it.

Period romances can be the perfect comfort read for trying times, which was when I was surprised when the first few chapters of Project Duchess left me wishing for a chart to figure out the complex series of who was related to who. Fortunately, once you get all of the players down, the rest of the book is pure fun.
Fletcher “Grey” Pryde’s had experienced his fair share of loss. So when he learns that his beloved mother has been widowed for the third time, he returns home to mourn the loss of his stepfather. It’s here that he meets Beatrice Wolfe, a woman that clearly marches to the beat of her own drummer. Grey cannot help but be drawn to Beatrice, which is unfortunate given that her brother may be responsible for his step-father’s death.
Project Duchess has the tricky task of balancing both a romance and a murder mystery plot. The novel does a great job with the former. Grey and Beatrice share great chemistry, and it’s wonderful to watch them fall for each other over the course of the book. The murder mystery isn’t tackled quite as successfully, if just for the fact that the killer is not unmasked by the end of the novel! While I don’t mind reading future books of the series to find out the truth, it’s important to note that this book doesn’t stick to mystery tropes as faithfully as it does romance ones.
While I have some quibbles about the way the mystery is handled, that doesn’t change the fact that Project Duchess is an engrossing read with lovable characters.
