I received this book free in Goodreads' giveaways.

A quick, interesting read. Not my first book on Norse mythology, so I knew many of the stories already. I still learned quite a few things. I would've liked this book more if it had been longer, and gone into more detail. Larrington moves rapidly from one tale to the next; the stories are not at all fleshed out. When this occurs with characters I'm not familiar with it makes it a chore to follow. Overall enjoyable. Great pictures.

I liked this a lot. Of the myth collections from Thames & Hudson this is my favorite. Carolyne Larrington is a great storyteller and provides in-depth analysis on the myths, something I've found laking in the Greek/Roman and Celtic books.
I have a basic knowledge of Norse myths and was able to follow her through her discussions, but she is trying to weave a complex mythology into sections, which can be confusing. I wouldn't recommend this to a brand-new reader of Viking tales.
Presentation-wise this a lovely little book. The color scheme is cream (from the paper) and shades of green - even the [great] art presented throughout has a pale green "sheen" than is very pretty.

So disappointing. I loved Mythos by Stephen Fry and I've always had a keen interest in mythology, but this book was painful to read. There is no doubt whatsoever that the author is highly knowledgeable in this area, but there is no thread or structure to the book. I found it very difficult to follow and often became disengaged. Such a shame.

This was so interesting to read. I really didn't know much about Norse Mythology and I loved learning about it. It got a bit confusing at times, but I'm not sure if it was the books fault or the fact that I knew so little about Norse Mythology.
