3.5 - A tad predictable, but a good and fast read.
I am not a fan of the romance, but then again I don't read sci-fi, paranormal or fantasy for the romance's, usually. I read them for the plot line, and while this had one it was a tad shaky. Most of it relied on Katy making a lot of idiotic and spur of the moment decisions, some of which had some pretty serious consequences. Not to mention I am pretty sure this chick is void of any gut instincts. I guess that is a good way to keep the action going. Most people wouldn't want to read a suspenseful book where the protagonist says things like "I am not going in there", "I ain't helping any strangers", "Yeah, sounds dangerous, no thanks." I guess if the book was about me as a protagonist in these situations we would have a 30 page book. It would end the first second shit got REAL. :D I digress. The book itself is a quick read and JLA has an amazing ability to suck you into a book with her writing. I will most likely continue with the series, because sometimes I like to read books that don't require me to think on a deeper level. This is missing actual science and common sense, and has a lot of twists and turns in the action (even if predictable at times) so I would still recommend it and I will most likely continue on with the series.

The amount of betrayals in this book is unreal. How can 400 pages contain so much heartbreak but also heartwarming scenes? This series officially made it to my favorite ones. Even though some scenes were weird and some little details didn't make sense, this book was amazing, and I wish I could experience it for the first time again.

As soon as I turned the last page of Obsidian, I picked up the second book in the series, Onyx. Well, after reading the short story about Daemon's brother Dawson, Shadows (which I recommend reading before this book). Anyways, it was just that good that I wanted to stay immersed in the world and never leave, and thankfully Onyx didn't let me down either.
Onyx picks up right where Obsidian left off and if I thought I fell hard for Daemon in Obsidian, I pretty much keeled over for him in Onyx. Things have changed in big ways and now Daemon is determined to win over Katy. Katy isn't quite so sure, after the stunts he's pulled luring her in only to leave her feeling a little bit too vulnerable she's not quick to trust him. But c'mon, he's Daemon and he can be ridiculously charming when he wants to be.
But Katy and Daemon's love life isn't her biggest concern at the moment. The DOD (Department of Defense) have been lurking around town a lot lately and after Daemon healed Katy at the end of Obsidian she's been experiencing some very strange changes in herself. So both her and Daemon are scared the DOD might catch on and make her (or both of them) disappear. Kind of like what happened with Daemon's brother Dawson and his girlfriend Beth. On top of that a seemingly normal new guy named Blake has his sights set on Katy and she's liking feeling a little normal for a change -- until things get even more strange.
This is seriously one of the most engaging series' I've read in a long time. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of great books out there. But I am normally able to bounce around between book series' in order to spread out the love. But every so often a series comes around that I just cannot get enough of and simply need to read the books back-to-back because I don't want it to end -- and this is one of those times.
Filled with action, suspense, an engaging storyline and of course there's the sexpot that is Daemon, you just can't go wrong with these books and it really goes to show you how amazing of a writer Jennifer L. Armentrout is. She's created a solid and addictive page-turner of a series that I simply never want to end!

This is getting better and better, so many things going on, yet I devoured the book. Who would´ve thought I loved alien romance so much! I love how Kat gives Deamon a nice payback, definitely had me seating on the edge all book. This sequel has everything action, great characters but the world-building is shining bright with all the stars. Definitely loving Daemon, he now owns me. All the twists had me guessing and I love that kind of book. I can't wait to see what comes next!

Warning: There are a few quotes that can be spoilery. So WARNING!
"I'm falling every time I'm around you, like I can't catch my breath, and I feel alive."
What can I say? I have two words though: Blown away. I loved the story, I loved the characters, I loved the angsty love, I love that Katy is not some perfect character and doesn't just follow orders and not question. I love that she stands up for what she believes and how kick-ass she can be (though she doesn't really think that yet). I ALSO love Daemon. He was the best thing that happened to welll...YA Paranormal books. He's kind, caring, arrogant, cocky. A contradiction all in one package. With. A. Freaking. Bow. On. Top.
Honestly? I don't think the sequel could have been written any better. It picked me up, and tossed me around and I felt like I couldn't breathe, but alive...like I was dreaming awake but didn't believe it. It was like that feeling where you get up from an amazing dream but you're not really up and in those few minutes...that dream is reality, and those imaginary lines were the truth.
Coming back.
Daemon and Katy are still fighting over the whole "He only likes me 'cos of the connection." and Daemon denying it.
The book was all kinds of hot and amazing! Though the fist quarter of the book was about Daemon, Katy and a certain "new boy in town" who's really interested in Katy and whom Katy doesn't mindwasting *clears throat* I mean spending her time with, it SEROUSLY started catching fire after that. Like, fire-on-your-butt-run-run-run. I must have finished the book in record time.
Katy makes mistakes, like any normal person would do. But during those mistakes she learns things that she may not have. She steps out of her comfort zone, steels up her courage and walks out of the house and into the arms of danger for those she loves and she would do it again, no matter how it would've ended. I like that about her.
Sure, people died, sacrifices were made...but secrets were unveiled, love revealed, truth found and hope returned.
Daemon was just amazing. Think you can guess what he's going to do next? Think again.
He was everything ANYONE would want the one they're in love with to be. Honest, kind, protective, sexy-as-hell, a-touch-arrogant-and-cocky, all kick-ass-Alpha, strong-yet-vulnerable...something they'd show only you. He made me cry, damn the green-eyed alien. I didn't expect it coming, and I don't know what to expect in the future. I DO know that Daemon and Katy won't give up on each other, no matter the situation, [spoilers removed]

I recommend this book to those who're ready to do ANYTHING for their loved ones, for those who know what it's like to do something wrong, by mistake, and the guilt it can cause, also for those who're ready to fall in love no matter the consequences.

I've read Chapter 2 of Onyx and the extra scenes in Obsidian!
They are AWESOME sauce. This book came into my hands yesterday
and I devoured the last few pages! YUMMY!
I think Chapter 1 of Obsidian from Daemon's POV was..well first, surprising and all kinds of hot and we get to see what he REALLY feels than what we thought he felt when Katy first met him.
A small teaser from Chapter 1 of Obsidian:
"I know." I've been watching you for two days, like a stalker.
***
Yeah, Daemon? Does she? Maybe...a Kitten?
This one is from the Porch Scene.
And this was another scene I fell in LOVE with!
And Chapter 2 from Onyx was also...breathtaking!
A small teaser from that chapter!
His intense gaze drifted down to my toes. "Yeah, you're hot. The whole wet white shirt...It's working, Kitten, [...] That's a little daring, don't you think?"
Now that I've read SO much of Daemon (which btw, is STILL not enough!) I'm going to happy dance!

Onyx was a really amazing sequel to obsidian, like really. I prefer this one over the first one because I found this one so emotional and more real in a sense that I felt everything the characters did and it kind of surprised me. I cried, I smiled, I laughed, a lot.
1- Onyx was bad ass: Katy practised with her new alien powers and it was spectacular, and she is now just plain bad ass. The action scenes were also more complex and developed in comparative to the first book in the series.
2- New characters were introduced and I think I hated them all- which is good because we need some light and shade in a book through the characterisations of people. So I hated Blake, mostly due to the fact he abused Katy like there was no tomorrow, and because of the fact he liked Katy and I'm all about Katy and daemon.
3- onyx was unbelievably funny. So funny I cried of laughing. This is mainly due to Daemon and his humour. For an example, when he refused to call Blake by 'Blake' and he would call him all sorts like 'Bart' and 'Flake'. And it did start getting annoying; when he referenced Blake as 'Bilbo baggins' I cried. I literally laughed out loud it was hilarious.
4- it was so emotional and raw, the book literally shredded me with sadness when Adam sadly died. Honestly I was like NOOO BLAKE U HORROR. It made the feels depressing and oh my when Matthew broke down to Katy. Such a scene.
Read this series like now. Now.

Oh my this book was just as good as the first. it was thrilling and surprising. Wonderfully paced as well, I literally have no complaints about this book, I went on such an emotional roller-coaster while reading this novel. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!
