I liked this book even more having read it for the third time. As long as you take it for what it is, a way to introduce Buddhist concepts to Westerners, it's a good and useful read.

DID NOT FINISH: 10%

Found out Dalai Lama was being a little creepy with kids. Can’t justify finishing this now

This book serves as a good introduction bridge to Eastern principles. Cutler's examples of Western science did give concrete proof of the Eastern principles discussed by the Dalai Lama, but these examples often felt over simplified. Overall, I greatly enjoyed my intro and am looking forward to studying these ideas further.

I was really excited to read this book when I got it because I thought it was written by the Dalai Lama. I was disappointed to discover the true author alone is Howard Cutler and this book just consists of him analysing his countless interactions with the Dalai Lama over an extended period of time. His scientific approach to genuine conversation kind of ruined it for me but the Dalai Lama was able to salvage the benefits of this book with his everlasting insight through words of wisdom. That’s why I’m giving it 3 stars.
