Book? 5 Stars. Nova? 10 Stars. I'm a simple woman. I love a little anon texting story line that coincides with an enemies-to-lovers situation. I would have preferred Maddie to have several spines instead of the half of one she maintained but that's okay. I'll love her through it.
The Puck Secret is book of the Fairfield U series but can be read as a standalone. I couldn't put this book down and devoured it! Nova and Maddie attend Fairfield U along with her brother Josh. Both Nova and Josh play on the same hockey team which Nova is the captian but they hate each other. Just as much as Nova hates Josh, he also hates Maddie.
At one of the many hockey parties, Maddie catches her boyfiend going off with another girl, Maddie decides enough is enough. She goes off looking for a certian hockey player but ends up kocking on the wrong door which happens to belong to Nova. From this point on, they each unlock something inside of themselves that they though would never happen. While still trying to maintain their hatred they are slowly breaking each others walls down.
If you love a good enemies to lover's story and hockey then you definetly need to read Nova and Maddie's story.

Hockey is my life. It’s my only goal, my only escape, and everything was going according to plan. All I had to do was focus on the game, keep my head down, then get drafted into the NHL.Starting the year as the Captain of FU should have made that easy, but now my attention is torn between the ice and taunting my rival's little sister, Madeline Peters. My only real solace is the mystery girl inside my phone who refuses to tell me her name. Then one drunken knock on the wrong door brings Madeline into my bedroom. It doesn’t matter that I hate her, that I’ve been warned to stay away from her, now that I know what she tastes like, the Mayor’s daughter is just too hard to resist.I know I can’t afford any distractions, especially not with her brother’s warnings in my ear, but I’ve never been good at following the rules and denying what I want, and what I want is her. But what do I do when it turns out the same girl I can’t let go of is also the temptress who’s been sending me all of her secrets?

Update: bumping up to a true 4⭐️ after rereading this two more times in the last month

Enemies to lovers is the ultimate trope and this one DID. IT. FOR. ME. This was one of my absolute favorite enemies to lovers.
There will never be a time where I’m not thinking about Nova Darkmore. He was perfection. And Maddie, I absolutely loved her fiesty side. Pairing the two of them together brought out the best sides of both of them. Maddie was fiesty, untamed, and her true self… while Nova was attentive and simping hard for a girl he had no business being in love with.
So what’s better than an enemies to lovers book? An enemies to lovers that includes a secret, anonymous texting relationship. I swear I eat those stories up. I could not get enough of the flirty banter and spicy sexting in this book. AND THE BASEMENT SCENE, oh my lord

4.2/5 stars! And 4.5 spicy peppers ! WOOF this book had me sweating and crossing my legs LOLL
Plot: I am in my hockey romance era for sure. I loved the true enemies to lovers plot. It felt believable and the banter was CHEFS kiss. I enjoyed the story line of Maddie and Nova - both had decent story lines.
Characters:
MFC Maddie was very likeable - smart, strong, but her inner dialogue was soft and a little insecure and it was quite relatable.
MMC Nova - Jesus take the wheel with this boy - he came off like a 35 year old dude, aint no way this guy was 21 years old - WAY to experienced LOL. But he was hard on the outside and cinnamon role in the inside - touch her and die, falls first UGH all the tropes.
Side characters: Loved them all, all had a bit of a story to tell; I really enjoyed the character development of Maddie's brother too - but I can tell there is so much more to come in the second book! I have so many questions regarding the side characters.
Romance/ spice: Spice was off the charts - that is all. The Romance was reminiscent of A Cinderella Story - but way more spice, less actual depth. It was hard to get connected to the romance when it felt based on lust. It lacked a bit of emotional connection. Just super flirty and dirty lol .
Overall: Loved it, ate it up, couldn't put it down! The story all together pulled me in and I loveddddd Nova *swoon*
