Update: 5⭐️’s x ♾️. I just did a tandem audiobook and kindle re-read in prep for the Puck Decoy release. Nova. Darkmore.
This book was a TOP read for me in 2023 and probably all-time. Nova Darkmore is elite. This book had me in a chokehold from the very beginning. I loved the enemies to lovers vibe and the secret texting identities. THE SPICE and the filthy mouth on Nova Darkmore....like I said, ELITE. The conflicts in the story between their families as a whole and then Nova and Maddie as individuals made the story even more multi-dimensional. I went into this story pretty blind as I just kept seeing reviews and edits for it everywhere on IG and dove in, the hype was REAL for me and did not disappoint. 100% recommend. 5 Stars and 3.5-4 out of 5 on the spice scale.
I cannot wait for The Puck Decoy or any other hockey romance from this author.

DNF.
It would be much easier to put up with the comma splices if every single line of dialogue wasn’t followed by a bunch of info dumps and cheesy exposition.

Wow talk about a book with spice!
I had such a fun time reading this book. Nova and Maddie’s love hate relationship really was extremely steamy and maybe not one that I would want to have in real life but was super entertaining and easy to read. I didn’t love the stereotypical man-whorishness of Nova and his fellow hockey teammates but it is to be expected for a hockey romance.
