I am not an emotional reader, but this one made me teary eyed
I can get behind a little love hate!!
I feel like the attitude and coolness Nova possessed came from his “hatred” towards Maddie… it gave the book the perfect amount of edge and made the spice even hotter!!! This is def one of my fav books of the year!
the relationship with Nova his mom, UGH, I’m still obsessed!! And boy and their mama, there’s nothing like it!!
I’ve already preordered the next in the series!

When Maddie accidentally sends a text to the wrong number, she engages herself in a conversation with a stranger. What she doesn't know is the charming boy she loves talking to is her brother's hockey teammate and he despises her and her whole family.
"The puck secret" gave me mixed feelings. One moment I loved it and the next one I needed a deep breath. Some of the scenes in the first half of the book didn't click with me, but the second half made me rethink everything.
Nova is the real-life example of the "he fell first and harder". With the reputation he held in the first part of the book, never did I expect him to commit himself to anyone.
I loved the plot, the character development, the relationships between the characters and everything.
“I guess it’s too late to find out. I just wanted you… no, I needed you to know. If I had a choice, I would choose you, every single time.”

This novel actually confused me a lot with how should I rateband review it but here I'mtrying my best.
While there were aspects I personally disliked, the overall experience was enjoyable and addictive. The novel was pleasant, and despite finding the plot somewhat nonsensical, I still relished it. I mean Madduie could have easily explored alternative financial avenues and stopped her father blackmailing, but who am I to judge when it yields an amazing story? LOL. The secret identity trope had me on the edge of my seat throughout, making it impossible to put the book down. The pacing was flawless, and I thoroughly enjoyed GN's writing.
My heart empathizes with Nova and his family's struggles; I genuinely loved his character, although I found one aspect slightly disconcerting. Here's my perspective: Nova was falling in love with a girl he had never met. He had great connection with that person and everythingwas going nicely, yet when he got Maddy (I acknowledge it's the same person, but still), he left the first girl for the second girl he had literallyno connectionwith becausehe selpt together. I still don't understand what actually happened there. Despite this, I appreciate how he candidly informed the first girl about Maddy, avoiding any wrongdoing. Oh that would have been a nightmare. I also like Maddie's character and certain aspects of her character added relatability. I admired her fiery dynamic with Nova.
Unlike most enemies-to-lovers narratives, their genuine reasons for hating each other heightened the angst whoch made the story better. The secondary cast also captured my heart. I understand there were some unrealistic elements, such as her not recognizing Nova's tattoos from the anonymous text thread, to she not taking loan or something, this novel still proved to be quite entertaining and fun and couldn't put it down. At the end I will say that this book marks the beginning of a great series, and I eagerly anticipating what will happen next, especially in Maddie's brother's story.
