Good book though I wish there was more of the paranoia aspect to it since that's the title. Guessed who the killer was towards the end but it didnt ruin the book

Loves this book. A murder mystery with super relatable and likable characters. The author does a great job helping us understand the characters.

I’m easily annoyed by some mistakes in books. Here’s one - pistols don’t have “clips” they have magazines. Now that is off my chest I’ll continue. Why did we have to hear about the Xanax and then ? This book was full of useless details. Tons
Of focus on the dog and his bathroom habits and activities. This one was about 150 pages longer than necessary.

Another awesome thriller from the queen Lisa Jackson! Imagine playing a game with air dart guns leads to the murder of your brother. Somehow a real gun comes into play in this scenario. Fast forward 20 years later and you’re still living with the grief of what you “thought” you did. 20 year reunion and ppl connected to this night are being unalived. Your paranoia sets in that they are coming for you next. Will you survive and will the truth come out?

This was a bit of a disappointment for me. This was my first Lisa Jackson book I've picked up, and while it certainly won't be my last, I think I am going to be picking up thrillers from other authors. I did love the main character and her story, but I felt like we should have been solely from her perspective and not have it multi POV. I feel that it would have upped the suspense if it was just from Rachel's POV.

Also, I was a little confused about the motive of the person responsible for this. It just seemed like we were headed in one direction and the author was like 'Nope, I am going to make it go in this direction to add that element of surprise'. Then we are left with an open ending with the possibility of a sequel, but I am not invested enough to really get back into this one story anymore. So, if there is a sequel... I don't care about it.

Still, it made for an awesome read and when I was in the book, I was very attached to the character (or at least some of the characters). In future, I will definitely pick up another Lisa Jackson book, but for now I want to try other authors. Mostly because I feel like I need to find the right kind of thriller for me, and I loved some elements of the thriller in this book and didn't like others.

2 stars only because I liked the disturbing twist. Otherwise, thought it was poorly written, too long, very repetitive and I guessed who "the killer" was right away. Expected a bit better based on the Goodreads rating. Had never read a book by this author and thought I'd give it a try.
