What a sweet read! I’ve read Ross’ more recent works and wasn’t all that impressed but this book is a gem! A true YA fantasy romance with the perfect amount of everything I love in the genre. I’m also happy to note that it’s actually age appropriate and the romance is sweet and swoony, perfect for the 12 to 18 age range. I’ll be recommending this book to my teens for sure!

The writing was beautiful, the story was enthralling, the world was magical and the romance was truly the sweetest I’ve read in a long time. I wasn’t left hanging on a cliffhanger but enjoyed the story so much I’m excited to begin book 2 nevertheless!

Five stars hands down.
fast-paced

This was predictable and uneventful. The characters were okay but the plot was so boring. The plan went too perfectly. The part where she finds a secret tunnel that leads to Cartier felt to convenient for me. And when she found the stone it was too easy . Even the fighting scenes were nonexistent, absolutely no tension or high stakes.

I loved this book! It perfectly encompasses all of my favorite things to find in a book , fantasy with a little romance, found family, and female leadership.

So many twists and turns

I did not like the romance between the teacher and the main character.

Stunningly original. Characters are well rounded. Surprising plot twists (coming from somebody who often notices the little hints and takes great pleasure in predicting them)

Speechless

What I would do to be able to reread it again for the first time
