I am soooo excited for the rest of this series. Loved Eric and Alex!!

I liked this ok but I should have read up on the pregnancy/baby plot line beforehand. Definitely not my gig.

2.5 stars. The beginning was more enjoyable, but the ending did not sit well with me.

I liked it but it didn't read as quickly as Sarina Bowen's other books have. This one felt a bit heavier although I cannot put my finger on why that is.
I enjoyed the characters and the plot, although I did find the plot a bit confusing (was the launch delayed, did they get a new manufacturer, did she convince the board to keep her,...). I say that for every Sarina Bowen book but the emphasis on communication, respect, and consent was *chef's kiss*.

In short, I enjoyed it, I'd recommend it but it wasn't my absolute favourite.

Cute, fun, quick read. I wanted more fake dating, because that's a trope I enjoy, but that was limited to the first few chapters. The rest was just a lot of corporate espionage I wasn't particularly interested in.

Ever since the Brooklyn Bruisers Series, I fell in love with Sarina Bowen's books. And this new series were very much anticipated, alright! Seriously, she can really write sports romance! I'm so excited where this series will take us!

Eric, for him, hockey is his life and nothing else matters. But he will always remember the girl he played with every summer years ago. And now, two decades later they met again, but he wished it was under better circumstance because she didn't recognised him.

Alex is in need for new security detail and who is better at it than Max Bayer, Eric's brother. After the embarrassing encounter where she didn't recognised him, the last thing she want is to have Eric pretending to be her boyfriend in Hawaii. But, I guess it is just what she needs to remind her of the good times they had as kids, or even now as adults...

From hockey to protecting the girl, Eric finds himself even more attached to care and protect Alex and the more time they spend together, the more they find themselves to need each other

I just love Eric and Alex together! They are very sweet and cute together. Some witty banters and not just with each other, but also with the robot Bingley! I swear Bingley's funny! There's a lot of talks about tech stuff, which I don't understand, but that doesn't bore me. There's a little but of suspense too and it just keep you on the edge of your seat trying to find out the truth!

This is highly recommended!

ARC was kindly provided in exchange for an honest review.

This was such a delight! Eric is so grumpy and not good at communicating and really struggling with the nearing end of his professional hockey career - when his childhood friend needs a fake boyfriend cum bodyguard - oh and she is pregnant. Alex is having a strange year - creepy exes, possible corporate espionage, old friends she doesn't recognize and not to mention a due date with a tiny human.

It was refreshing to read a book about people in their thirties finding love! Eric is grumpy but kindhearted and Alex is used to being on her own and really wouldn't mind some help sometimes and they are both super relatable. Definitely super interested in Scout, Duff, Gunnar, and the rest of the Company's cast of characters!

Tropes: fake dating; bodyguard; childhood friends to lovers; no strings attached sex; accidental pregnancy (for the heroine)

Holy chemistry - Alex and Eric Bayer had it in spades. There was also delightful banter, a little bit of pining, and some awfully sweet gestures (using a child's sled in order to get through a snowstorm safely!). Having met Alex in a previous book I was really intrigued to get her story and I was also excited to see more of Bayer. We hadn't spent much time with him and it was nice to have some sports moments with an athlete at the end of this career. He brought some more depth than perhaps we see with athletes at the beginning of or in the prime of their career.

And I've gotta give a shoutout to the baby - ugh, the sweetness was overwhelming.
