Yeah Baby, the Brooklyn Bruisers are back and we are finally getting Alex's story! We first really meet Alex in Brooklynaire, she is an old college friend of Nate, and a genius and CEO to boot. I love how Sarina Bowen has layered the timelines, this book takes place just after Brooklynaire, and we get to see a lot of our old friends :). While this book takes place in the same universe, it is part of a new series centered around a private security company owned by the family of Bruiser's forward Eric Bayer This story has hockey, humor, friends to lovers, suspense, espionage, and intrigue. You are constantly engaged in the mystery part of the story while falling head over heels in love with the blossoming romance. When these hockey boys fall they fall hard an it is quite spectacular!

I received an arc of this book and voluntarily give my review

This was just fun - aging hockey star acting as a fake boyfriend/body guard (as directed by his family security company) for a childhood friend who also happens to be a top CEO. This is one where you’re not sure how they’re all going to overcome it all, but you’re of course guaranteed a happily ever after and it is so good.

I love Sarina Bowen, I love the hockey players she writes, I loved Alex. So much fun. This wasn't my favourite of hers and I don't know why? I wasn't super into the actual cybersecurity breach plot line, like it just wasn't interesting to me but I can see how it would be really appealing to lots of people. I still want to read the other books that are coming in this series - Max needs a book. Not sure, this isn't a very helpful review but if you liked Superfan or Pipe Dreams in the Brooklyn Bruisers series you'll probably love this.

I loved this story, of course I seem to love everything that Sarina Bowen writes.
lighthearted fast-paced

DNF’ed at 54%. Love Sarina Bowen, but I think I’m bowing out on this series. It’s just not for me.

The female narrator is TERRIBLE.

Features the “bodyguard” and “sharing a bed” trope.

I am a sucker for the “sharing a bed” trope for some reason, but it didn’t fully work for me in this book.  I didn’t connect as strongly with Alex and Eric or with their relationship and I wasn’t invested in the secondary plot line around Alex’s company (though I do want a Bingley for myself!).  I think if it had been a little more condensed, I would have enjoyed it more.  So far, my least favorite of the books featuring the Brooklyn Bruisers, but I’m still excited for read more the next time I need a quick, fun palette cleanser.

Enjoyed it but not totally my bag - both the heroine being pregnant and the story being romantic suspense. It left a storyline unresolved, perhaps for the next book?
