I will happily read anything written by Sarina Bowen, but Moonlighter was just okay for me. I loved Alex’s intelligence and independence. Eric is such a steady and faithful sweetheart to his teammates, his family, and Alex.

I would love to be treasured by Eric the way he cares for Alex. Alex can be cold towards Eric sometimes though. Blame it on her having a bad day or being fearful, but I had no patience for her game playing or disregard for Eric’s feelings. When they are in sync, though, it’s Swoonsville.

The mystery regarding Alex’s safety and her company was only mildly intriguing to me. However, I wanted the puzzle to be solved, and given the amount of time spent focusing on it, it seems odd that the reader is left hanging with an unresolved plot.

Eric’s cyber security genius brother really intrigued me. I hope to learn more about him in a future book.

Stupid book making me cry my own tears.

Also, I don't usually care for romantic suspense novels, but this one balanced it well, maybe just because I found the industrial espionage was about an industry I find interesting.

Also, this is a spin off of Bowen's Brooklyn Bruisers series, but you don't have to read that first. This stands alone. But you should read the other series just because it's really good. Probably my favorite hockey romance series.

Didn't like attention paid to FMC not recognizing MMC at a party. MMC seemed immature.

I really really loved Bayers story. But I missed the othe hockey players, I would have loved Heidi and Castro or Leo to be more around in this book. And finally Alex makes sense to me. Thanks for this nice Bruiser. Can´t wait for Besses story.

Ever since Sarina Bowen introduced readers to Eric Bayer, hotshot hockey player for the Brooklyn Bruisers, I've been dying to delve into his story. Now that the first book in The Company spin-off series is nearly out and I've had a chance to read Moonlighter I can assure all those fans that it's well worth the wait. Prepare for familiar faces, family dynamics, and one hell of a ride.

Right from the start, the reader takes a deep dive into Eric's background. His father and brother own a prestigious security company and they want him on board. What sucks him in though is an old childhood friend in deep shit. Alex is the CEO of a booming tech company, pregnant, and fears for her safety. He agrees to accompany her to Hawaii and play fake boyfriend for a bit. What's the worse that could happen?

It's clear early on these two have exquisite chemistry and they quickly take the plunge. It's what happens after that's so compelling and endearing. Eric would do anything for her despite his bachelor lifestyle and Alex struggles to let him get too close. The two of them have excellent banter but also a smile inducing goodwill that shows the depth of their feeling.

What takes this book to the next level though is the added element of mystery and threats occurring. Alex's safety is at risk from the start but it quickly turns from violent ex-boyfriend to high tech spy craft in a matter of pages. There are murky powers at work and everything from breaking and entering, chase scenes, and eliminating the competition comes up. Honestly it was a cool change of pace in my romance reading.

Overall Moonlighter was another excellent story from Sarina Bowen and I could not put it down. This offshoot from her Brooklyn Bruisers boys takes on an air of mystery and intrigue while still delivering the hot and heavy romance I've come to adore. Eric is quite the bad ass with a heart of gold and Alex pulls no punches in both business and life. I absolutely loved this one and totally r
ecommend anything Bowen writes!

Eric Bayer is a forward for the Brooklyn Bruisers NHL team, currently rehabbing a knee injury. Since he's "on vacation" for the summer, his billionaire brother Max asks him to help out with security for Alex Engels. Alex is the CEO of a cable & technology company, and she's pregnant with her abusive ex-boyfriend's child.

Alex & Eric were friends when they were young kids. While Eric is providing security during Alex's trip to Hawaii for a big tech conference, they find they still have that friendship with a side of light & fun competitiveness. They're also very attracted to the adult version of the kids they used to be.

Alex has zero plans to bring a partner into her life. All she wants it to be successful and respected at her business, as well as being a more present parent to the baby she's expecting. As she and Eric get closer, he is starting to see a future that he had never visualized before.

Eric is really sweet - he falls in love with Alex, and he is not at all put off by her pregnancy - neither the fact that it's another man's baby, nor all of the changes to Alex's body. Alex is smart and capable, but she's always fighting the attitudes of the older men at the company who don't think she deserves her position. She never gives up and never lets those attitudes affect how good she is at her job, so I love her fighter personality.

There is some corporate espionage going on, and Alex always seems to be on the brink of danger. Only part of the mystery gets solved by the end of the book.

But Eric's brother Max and their father have "The Company" which seems to be about security, personal protection, tech development, and more - so who knows what might happen in the 2nd book?

Moonlighter is the first book in Sarina Bowen’s new The Company series, and if you've read the Brooklyn Bruisers series and the spin-off Brooklyn series (if you haven't, please do so! I mean hockey players!!) then you're familiar with Alexandra and Eric.

Moonlighter delivered everything I've come to expect when I pick up a Sarina Bowen book, it was packed with humor, banter, and suspense and oh my goodness - fake dating, and one of my favorite tropes - friends to lovers!

Eric and Alex first met as teens and now they come face to face again.

Eric Bayer, an aging hockey player, has to help out his wildly successful brother at "The Company". It's no big deal, he just has to be a fake boyfriend to an old family friend.

Alex is a brilliant CEO, she's powerful and in need of some serious protection from her ex boyfriend and that's where Eric comes in. Alex and Eric have to spend time being a fake couple and well ... You'll just have to read for yourself!

So if you're in the mood for a great story with twists and turns, sexual tension and banter you to read this one!

I can't wait to read more about the Bayer family and The Company

I love spies/security guys, and I love hockey, so what could be better than this book? The story is great, the characters have you rooting from them right from the beginning, and yeah, I now can't wait to read more of this series! Couldn't ask for more than that!
