Very entertaining and almost graphic-novel like. My prediction was wrong, but that’s okay! I did have a hard time keeping up with all of the characters/potential suspects.

A true crime documentary in book form.
I'm torn about what to think of this book. This book reads as a transcript of a true crime documentary. We are taken through an investigation of a 20 year old murder. The victim: a man who married a socialite noticeably older than him. The investigation team was a mix of characters and different specialties. The mystery itself was full of twists and turns and only waited until the final few pages to reveal the last of its secrets, like any good mystery novel.
The presentation, though, is not what I look for. Instead of taking the reader on a ride through a literary world, either fictional or real, readers are presented with a transcript. There is no real scenery described except in passing as if it was on a TV screen. Most of the story is told from within a studio leading this novel into a victim of "white room syndrome."
The characters blend in with each other as well. In many stories with well defined characters, one can tell who said a line just by reading the words spoken. In this case, I did not have that experience. And, sadly, I didn't often care who said the lines in question. I only cared about the conversation.
I think the target audience for this book is very niche. If you love True Crime and a good mystery, this book is for you. If you prefer character driven stories that take you on site with them, this book is not for you,

Not my normal type of book, but my book club had picked it, and although my hold didn't come in before the book club meeting about it, I'm still glad that I went through with it. I don't usually read crime fiction, and this one was told unconventionally, through transcripts and video interviews. An interesting take on the genre, and playing into the current fascination with true crime. Lots of twists and red herrings, and I ended up really enjoying it!
The narration was a bit confusing at times; with so many narrators and accents I had a hard time keeping track of who was who, but I got used to it and most of the time I could muddle through even not knowing who was speaking at any given time. The timeline also tripped me up a few times (shooting started in spring, show aired in the fall), and I would have liked to have a hard copy to make sure I properly followed the details in that final episode at the end. But overall, very good!

What a good who dun it. It kept me guessing right until the very end! A must read for crime lovers.
