I really enjoyed this book. I never worked in the hospitality industry. Very eye opening.

DID NOT FINISH

DNF. This book was terrible--only made it through page 70ish, and it was all about the mafia, drugs, illegal activities, swearing, sex...the list could go on. Everything BUT food.

A nice FOH complement to Kitchen Confidential.

A front of house Kitchen Confidential, filled with its own depraved foul mouth characters and wild stories of their antics. Really sheds a light on the unglamorous nature of the fine dining industry, the pressure service workers are put under, and the lack of respect they are given. A great read.

I initially picked this up because the cover and title sounded interesting. I always love stories from NYC and I don't normally read non-fiction about food.
However,
This was definitely NOT what I had been expecting. The author was graphic with how much fornication went on in those restaurants, the drug use, mafia involvement, etc. I mean it was like every other sentence he was describing how someone was getting porked this way and that.

But I did enjoy the high-end restaurant stories and related to the chaos of working in public service.
