I listened to his on Audible and I genuinely loved every word she said. It’s no wonder she is one of the greatest song writers of all time; she has a very special way with words. She reminded me a lot of my grandmother who would tell it like it is, never hateful or hurtful but rather charming and funny. Dolly is just like that. Her life, her music, and her voice are something to truly be treasured. Loved it so much.

A seminal figure and voice of comfort in my life since before I can remember.

I don't know who needs to hear this at this point but I'm gonna say it anyways.... Dolly Parton is a national treasure and a mfing angel.

While I read this, I queued up all the songs to listen to on a playlist and I highly recommend this as an accompaniment.

This was a really great book to listen to. I am not sure I would have gotten even close to the same out of it, had I read it myself. Dolly narrates it herself, and she is quite the incredible person. Very humble, gives credit to others, accepts them for who they are, and above all things, she is an incredibly hard-working storyteller. It was really interesting to hear of her life story and how near a hundred of her songs came to be; born out of all of her life experiences and imagination. Definitely recommend this one.

I read a quarter of the book in print format, but felt like I was probably missing out by not listening to the audio book. I loved the pictures and captions, but it started to feel like a slog. I switched to the audio book and have zero regrets. It's great to hear Dolly's words in her own voice and with her inflections. She has such a great memory for details around how her songs came to be. She's honest and open, and it was a breeze to finish the book via audio format. I plan to go back through the physical copy because the pictures are worth it, and some of the captions were so funny I truly laughed out loud.

It’s a little repetitive and sentimental, just like hearing an older family member telling stories about the olden days. I enjoyed it. Hearing Dolly sing and talk about her songs was lovely.

I love Dolly! this was perfect for audiobook and I loved it!

Really recommend on audio as you get the full experience of hearing her voice tell her story about her songs. Wish it could have been mire in depth. Always never enough Dolly. An amazing woman and this book highlights her genius at writing.

what an absolute delight. get this on audio - dolly’s narration feels like a conversation between old friends and the song snippets were quite enjoyable.
