I love Dolly and I enjoyed the book but I feel like the formatting could have been better on the audiobook, it felt like an interview. It's all very Dolly though.

This book was definitely made for audio! I can’t imagine how it would work in text format. The beginning of chapters about certain songs would play little clips, which obviously you wouldn’t get otherwise. It was set up like Dolly being asked some question or topic, mostly about a certain song, and then she would just talk about it. It was like one long conversation.

Because of this laid back, interview style aspect of it. It did lack a little bit of structure and she would repeat herself or take really long pauses. So it kind of missed out on more deep thought that written word would have had instead of immediate verbal recall. But, I really enjoyed this style of autobiography. It felt more personal; like I was having a chat with my grandma about her insanely successful music career.

I enjoyed this! If you are going to try this book out, I recommend the audiobook so you can hear the songs.

I love Dolly Parton so it was obvious I would love this before ever reading it. She is such a beautiful soul.
