Love Dolly, did not like this as an audiobook, even though it was nice hearing in her voice.

The audiobook for this book is amazing. One of the best I've ever heard. Hearing her stories, songs, humor all together was great.

Read this in addition to the Spotify series Dolly Parton’s America. Learned a lot about her early life, and came to respect and appreciate her music much more
3.5 - I listened to this on audio and enjoyed it. Dolly explains stories and tidbits behind some of her most best known/favourite songs - I honestly didn't know that she wrote I Will Always Love You. I never grew up with Dolly and really didn't think much or know much about her - but, I've seen her referenced much more lately and have been interested. This shared a whole variety of stories and really showed that she loved to write, came from humble beginnings, worked her ass off to build an empire and is truly trying to do good!
This is a good overview of Dolly Parton's extensive discography, and while she does provide some information about each song, it is in most instances just a *little* information. I listened to the audio, and the insights from Parton on each song was typically no more than one or two minutes (leaning more to one minute than two). This is a great book if you want a reminder of all the wonderful songs from this prolific artist, and you will definitely walk away with some moving and humorous stories, but do not go into it thinking you will really get a lot of detail about the meaning and composition of each song.
