Too heavy handed for me

This book was not subtle at all. It felt like being clubbed over the head with the statement that technology is dangerous. I also found the characters and their backgrounds a bit flat. Not a BAD read per se, but I don’t think I’d recommend it to any friends.

Mae makes me aggressive, she is just so stupid. I know that's the point, but idc.
Poor Annie.

Oh my goodness! I just don't know what to say, and I'm too afraid to give things away. Defiantly would encourage a read of this book.

I did not like this book, yet I couldn’t stop reading it. It’s like a train wreck. You know you shouldn’t look, but you can’t help yourself. You want to see the horribleness. I wanted to know what disturbing ideas the Circle would implement.

The main character is basically a doormat. She is beyond influentiable and would do anything to just be liked. She doesn’t question anything, doesn’t stand up for herself, and doesn’t think for herself.

The tone of the book is very YA. I’m surprised this isn’t rated as a YA book because it really should be.

I don’t recommend the book from a “I want to read a good book” perspective, but I do recommend it from a “Shit we should watch out for” perspective.

2023 Books - Number 3

And finally this book is complete. I really enjoyed the story being told, even if I’ve seen the movie several years ago.

Anyway I found the story interesting showing how technology grows fast and also scary how far it can become.

Only reason for the 4 stars was due to the big jumps in the stories. One minutes something bigs happen and then boom it’s the next day.

This had a premise I was interested in. It had an appropriate sequence of events. The characters were.... OK. The pacing was terrible and it dragged. Dave Eggers is a good author, but you wouldn’t know it by reading this.

It definitely beats you over the head with an astoundingly unsubtle message. There are no surprises. I enjoy talking about the things in the book more than actually reading it.

I didn’t hear good things about the movie. But I bet you could at least get the idea without having to read all of this.

The main character was soooooooo unlikeable. Good premise, poor story telling.
