This book is still just as amazing as I remember and still gets it's place as one of my favorites
Solid action romp featuring conflicted, self destructive, self loathing leads... Good balls to the walls read
I don't think this one quite worked for me. I liked it well enough to finish but the relationships Azoth developed with Logan, Momma K, and Durzo were the only driving force. The intrigue wasn't particularly fleshed out and characterization of women throughout was pathetic. Weeks consistently toes the line of full edgelord throughout and it doesn't leave a great taste in my mouth. I don't think I'll be seeking out the rest of the trilogy.
I first read this book about 14 ywars ago and honestly I'd forgotten most of it (apart from the odd time I went, oh, I remember this bit) and as such I was surprised and delighted all over again at the twists and turns in ths book.
I can't wait to read the next two (before Night Angel Nemesis is released) and find out all over again what happens to everyone.

Well that ended with a LOT more bloodshed than I could ever imagine.
I really enjoyed this book and thought it was a good start to the Night Angel Trilogy. There were a few times where I was really confused about how the magic and world was laid out (wikipedia came in quite handy here), but all of my questions were eventually answered in the end. The Way of Shadows was a solid book but there were parts that I felt were somewhat lacking that maybe *cross fingers* will be better as the series progresses.
For those who are looking for a fast-paced action filled fantasy read, I would definitely recommend this book.

I get so into this kind of fantasy. This is the first I've experienced a world and characters as deep and gritty as GRRM. No fairy tale endings, any character can die, and all characters are subject to reality. He could make the world a bit richer (I'm all about maps), but I can't pass judgement on that after one medium length book. The characters are as rich as they come and the plot is full of big twists and little intricacies. Huge bonus: unlike GRRM, all the plot pieces fit together. No gaping holes or loose ends.
