Beautifully written, disturbing story that keeps you guessing. I liked that the story came full circle and ended on a very humane note.

I originally thought this book was going to be a murder mystery but it read more so as a documentary-style recalling. I thought the writing was good and the book was well crafted, it just was not in my taste.

A classic for a reason. Taking an already interesting case and expanding on the everything that happened. I appreciated hearing about the background of the murders and what drove them to do it, no matter how inexcusable the crime was.

Read this to pay dues to one of the original crime reporting novels and Capotes journalistic prose made clear why this is a classic. Really enjoyed how it was written (alternating between those investigating, and the actual guilty parties). Capote gave insight into the lives and minds of people who commit these awful motiveless crimes, while still honoring the lives of those lost AND the ones impacted via their line of work. Overall, really well done.

Didn’t LOVE the racist slurs/phrases used but understand it was reporting and that was the 1950s.

One of those books on so many “read before you die” lists..and while I am still pretty sure I have read this book previously now I know I have read it.  It is interesting that is one of the first true stories told like a novel rather than a text of facts.   And it goes from before the crime to conviction to execution.

This book was so slow. I spent most of the book very confused because the author Truman Capote was all over the place. There were no breaks between what he was talking about. I also didn’t like how there were no chapters, instead it was a 4 part books, which confused me even more, nothing was separated. The writing style also confused me.
