I finished this book several days ago and am still thinking about it. It seemed like a mundane book about a woman who is considering breaking up with her boyfriend, but this book is not what it seems. I feel like I need to read it again to fully understand what happened. Iain Reid did a phenomenal job.
I started and finished reading this at 3am while exhausted, if that tells you anything.
I'm not sure how I feel about this one, so I'm rating it middle of the road. After thinking about it *a lot*, I think the ending made me like the book more overall but there were still a lot of parts in it that made me roll my eyes. Without giving anything away, there was a lot I felt like the book was trying to make me think was happening but clearly wasn't actually happening and it was so obvious I was annoyed. Not that I knew the ending at all but I knew it wasn't going to be what you're supposed to think, so trying to get me to think it just felt too contrived. I was definitely unsettled, though, that's for sure. And I felt the need to finish the book as quickly as possible, a) to find out what happens and b) because it's just so damn uncomfortable. In a way, I almost feel like re-reading this would make me like it much more but I'm not sure I'm willing to give that much effort and time to it. I will watch the movie though.

I am so glad that I listened to this story as an audiobook, I was completely immersed in it and it made the ending even more shocking.
It is a book that I know I will need to go back and reread to catch all the little hints to the ending that I am sure are there.
I love the way that the narrator is confused about what is going on around her, yet seems unable to “end things” and get herself out of the situation.
The tension builds up so well as we race towards a climax that I did not see coming. I personally love books that leave me to think about the ending and what I’ve just read, that definitely happened here. I was left confused in the best way.
I definitely recommend for fans of thriller/horror and want to read more by this author. I don’t think this book will be for everyone but I personally loved the whole experience of listening to it
