Felt a little long. Easy read.
I'm a sucker for romance, from the spicy to the cavity inducing, I'm easily won over. This story started with such great bones that I wanted to love it more.
Our girl Drew is relatable. She's kind and snarky, has self proclaimed daddy issues and is relationship avoidant. She's surrounded by strong women who meddle, support her and who push Drew to be uncomfortable. Like seriously, the Dirty Birdies need to be protected. Our male lead Jasper is just too good to be true. He's handsome, charming, and loves to laugh. Jasper is freaking adorable and has so many green flags. Given this winning combination, I really wished that there was more nuance and depth to their relationship. The book had its moments of course. I loved the tenderness Jasper showered Drew with after she realized her grandmother had considered selling the bookstore. That moment was just precious and showed that Jasper was an absolute gem. Instead of trying to solve the problem, he just gave her love and support. The nuanced emotions of grief and the rollercoaster you go on hit the nail on the head. Grief is not one dimensional and simple and Drew showed the complexity so well. Scenes like this gave me enough drive to push through and finish but felt lacking in the end.
I would recommend for a light easy read but don't expect much outside of a hot unrealistic male lead and a semi-relatable female lead

Well, I loved this book.
Drew's story was so intriguing. I loved that she inherited a bookshop but didn't like to read. (I couldn't imagine being this way.) Her and Jasper's adventure dates and book dates were great. Their chemistry came off of the page. I enjoyed trying to guess what books Alexa Martin picked for Drew to read - I have a few I think might be right.
The only reason this didn't get 5 stars from me is because I felt the breakup was a little much. I wasn't thrilled with how it all went down (although I could see it coming). But that didn't take away from this being a great and fun read.
Overall, a great booky read. Definitely check it out if you like a good bookshop romance!

Quick and cute. I loved Drew, she was real and funny and relatable. Jasper on the other hand - I have no idea who he is as a person. For books like this, I much prefer the alternating perspective, so that we get to see into the heads of our two leads. Not the most romance-y romance, but it was still sweet with a little spice.
