3.5/5 I felt like the writing style was a bit juvenile at times but overall I enjoyed the story and the supporting characters

I really enjoyed this. Drew is a really likable, nuanced character!

It was cute and silly goofy but it felt very millennial (in a bad way) and too cringey at times. I thought it was gonna go in a different direction and felt like there really wasn’t any major issue except for the one that the Drew created. I do like the idea of owning a bookstore tho and falling in love with a hot romance author (and the daddy issues was relatable). I felt like the scenes dragged on with unnecessary dialogue and exposition. Spicy scenes were nice tho.

2.75 ⭐️ took me WAY longer to get through than it should have, but alas, I got distracted. Cute and simple. Nothing to write home about but a nice short read with moments of humor and a fine love interest (although severely underdeveloped).

I enjoyed this book, but I do feel it could be written better. It felt a little like a half baked story. The plot was fun and I felt it moved too fast. All together, it was a fun read and had two small sex scenes.

Realistic dialogue, reactions to events, relationships, and friendships.
Fell apart in last quarter of the book.

Content-profanity, sexual content

This book was a big meh for me. The story just didn't come together for me. I didn't like Drew at all and found the late millennial language in the book annoying. It's one thing for a character to use "def" as though it's an actual word, that's annoying enough. But to write it into sentences that aren't dialogue is over the top. I actually skimmed a big portion of this book just because I wanted to finish a book after a long dry spell.

Silver lining- the sexual content is easy to skip is that's not your jam.

I don’t think anything about this book is harmful, but it’s not meaningful either. The hero’s dialogue is filled with cliches that give me red flags that are never resolved, and the heroine doesn’t have much to do. She  eventually discovers her grandmother’s motives for bequeathing her a bookstore were different than she thought. That’s not a character arc. One whole star is for the side characters (best friend, sister, meddling old lady book club) who were incredibly well fleshed-out. The other is for good syntax despite a wet noodle of a plot and a fishy hero.

Libby audio. The octogenarians were the best part of the book.
