During a weekend visit to Granny's, Rufus explores the woods and finds a totem necklace that has the power to turn him into Bigfoot! Jealous that he found something in the woods she knows like the back of her hand, Penny gets captured by wolves who want the totem back. With a little help from a flying squirrel and his newfound powers, Rufus rescues his new friend and returns home with mom and dad and...a squirrel!

The first book in a surefire hit kids graphic novel series. Funny and full of action this book is great for grades 3-5.

A short, cute little story. I'll definitely look out for the following books.

I liked this well enough, and Faith Erin Hicks' art is always enjoyable, but I think it's a little young for my tastes. Which isn't to say it's bad, just had a specific age demographic in mind, and I'm not in it.

Disappointing story and characters.

Won’t be passing this along to the kiddo. Or maybe I’ll read it to him just so we can have a discussion about how it’s problematic? Not sure yet.

3 1/2 stars. Cute graphic novel about a boy who thinks he's going to have a boring visit with his grandmother but ultimately ends up having a great adventure and making a new friend.
