A Lesson in Thorns was iconic, different, and fun.
This is repetitive, gross, and should have never been done.

I really enjoyed most of it, after reading book one in nearly one sitting... didn't mind that the plot was a bit messier than the first book since I'm into the characters and wanted to see them together...but the reveal at the end of book 2 was disturbing and not the best choice in my opinion. Why couldn't they just be happy as a three for a bit?
2.5 stars rounded up. I want to be very clear that I was not bothered by the , and it did not influence my rating at all. I was on fanfiction.net from a young age--like Saint and Auden, to my eternal amusement--and I have read some actual books where played a role since then. No pearls were clutched.
But I do have a problem with how the plot dragged, how everything was so belabored, and for what? It all felt a bit anticlimactic, to be honest. I wanted more from the ritual. I wanted more of the research and the ritual planning!
So now I'm torn about continuing the series. I worry that the other books will also drag like this one. But I also want to get more from Beckett, whom I love and have some questions about.

I……. boo tomatoes. what a waste of a fun first book
setting aside the wild ass incest reveal, this book was a repetitive, blatant middle child of a book. plot was… nearly non-existent, the sex was predictable in comparison to the first, and the only highlight was the hot priest. 2 stars for the hot priest and interesting (if poorly developed) supernatural happenings
the tragic backstory between auden and saint was a bit of a flop (a hate crime & the misunderstandings trope don’t mix well imo) and all that build-up to the falling out reveal just to end in an even worse reveal felt silly
I will be looking up summaries of the rest of the series to put the plot bits to rest

Graphic: Incest, Sexual content, Blood
Moderate: Death of parent
The flashback chapters to Saint's and Auden's history together stole the show amongst a plotless mess of ridiculous filler... and then that ending. I'll give book 3 a shot because I'm hoping that it's just not true. Cheap shot, Simone. Do better.

Me ha gustado mucho, pero no es posible que me dejen con ese final, no después de tantos años para ellos
