great collection of short stories showing the diversity of trans lived experiences. maybe too many written by the editor but that's a minor nitpick.

This is a wonderful essay anthology seeking to approach transness through the lens of gender euphoria (as opposed to gender dysphoria), meaning that it focuses on the euphoria that comes with being recognised as, or recognising yourself as, your gender identity. Euphoria just like dysphoria is a an experience that's quite individual and the various perspectives. I loved that there was an intersex author included, since, at least from my experience, intersex people are often overlooked in queer spaces. Some of the essays were stronger than others, as I tend to expect from collections like these, but none were poorly written and each one managed to at least make me go "oh that's interesting". Would recommend if you're sick of transness being framed solely as the result of dysphoria.

A lot of people have a lot to say on "the trans debate" - and a lot of it is horse shit. Largely because it's being said by people who have an agenda but no experience.
The only people who have anything useful or meaningful to say on anything to do with trans issues is the trans community.
Which is where this book comes in.
Collated by Laura Kate Dale, Gender Euphoria looks at the lived experience of 19 trans people, covering all areas of the trans world. Trans men, trans women, different ethnicities, different sexualities - it really feels like all trans life is here.
The first-person accounts are uplifting, emotional, heartwarming, and in at least three cases will have you in tears.
In short, the book is fantastic.
It not only allows us, outsider allies, a window into the trans world so we can have clearer insight and understanding, but far more importantly tells those starting out on their trans journey that they are not alone.
It's one thing to be told others have gone through what you're going through, but here, within these pages, you can feel it, share it, live it alongside them.
You really are not alone.

I recommend this to anyone who is trans, or wants to better understand trans people. This essay collection is full of unique stories that share common threads of trans/nonbinary gender euphoria. The stories, most of which were written by people outside the U.S., broadened my horizons and understanding, and many rung true with my own experience as a nonbinary person.

Loved the concept, had wonderful stories. I was confused why so many of the essays were written by the editor- Seemed like a missed opportunity to have more voices included.

This book was beautiful! Each individual story of feeling euphoric, comfortable, and confident in one’s own skin was so amazing. I loved every second of it!
