Another amazing Star Wars story completely ignored by Disney. Jedi Search would have made for an incredible movie. There's non-stop action, intrigue, and just enough New Republic politics to let you know what's going on with the government but not so much to bore you. The story takes place on several different planets, so the reader gets to branch out more into the Star Wars universe. There's more than a few mentions of the happenings of the original trilogy and books here, so fans will love the easter eggs.
Luke is more confident than we've ever seen him, looking for potential students with the force, Leia is struggling with the balance of family and profession, Han is his old self- getting in and out of trouble, and we even see a decent amount of Lando. We are introduced to multiple new characters; three of Luke's potential new jedi trainees, the scientist who designed the death star, Admiral Daala and her fleet of four star destroyers, among many others. There's rarely a dull moment, and we move from the spice mines on Kessel, to Bespin, to Coruscant, to a black hole cluster. There's the threat of a new weapon and the means to deploy it.
I really enjoyed this installment of the Star Wars EU, and can't wait to dive into the next. It read quickly, the dialogue was smooth and believable and the author really stayed true to the characters and the SW universe as a whole. If you didn't like Disney's SW, I highly recommend you come here instead!

This book was a pretty solid Star Wars story, albeit a bit bland compared to the previous Thrawn trilogy or other Star Wars books. The plot in Kessel as well as the Imperial station were very interesting and made me want to keep reading. The only problem I really have with this book are the obvious plot devices. Luke’s students that he gets in this book are way too easily convinced to change their entire lives for a stranger they have never met until 5 minutes before. Also the ending with the “sun crusher” and it’s “impenetrable armor” were such huge plot devices it made me so annoyed having to read it. Otherwise it was a decent story, one were I will be continuing, hopefully with no obvious plot devices in the future. 3.4 out of 5 stars. (Rounded down to 3)

Interesting. Not a work of art. Short, moves along, and I like the story. I think I will read a lot more of these. It is just cool to see what is happening in the star wars world after the movies.

Liked this one as a first books goes. Let's see where it take me.

There were a lot of things I enjoyed about this, but some of the characterizations felt really off to me.
