This was another one of Sophie's easy and drama-filled romance reads. The characters were super funny and had all the flaws of a gut-wrenching romance. I loved the characters in the book and the witty female. I think the book had more potential for an in-depth storyline but it was an easy and quick read.

I’m sorry but if you go into this book thinking you will read about any foreplay, much less actual sex, you will not get what you think. Most of the foreplay in this book is in the title. The sex scenes are minimal and a page or two of non-descriptive—oh wait, she just came? Yeah, that’s how, let’s say, climactic these scenes are.

I should have known better than to read anything else by Sophie Jordan after repeated disappointments with every single historical of hers that made promises they never once delivered on.

I don’t know how she’s a best seller when her characters are routinely flat and boring and the chemistry between the MCs is barely existent. Also, this premise about practicing sex (“the boy girl thing” which I think is how the heroine in this book puts it (total UGH)) for the future—could and should be a super hot read, I haven’t yet found a good one, so if you know of one, please let me know!

And finally, the kink club? Chekhov’s kink club, I guess. I assume it will be in the next book in the series but also assume it will be BORING AS HELL.

For all the hype this just seemed like a typical NA to me.

Such a fun book! Love Sophie Jordan!

Loved the main characters, you might be able to predict the guy she ends up with..... Because you'll be wanting it to happen, but you'll never guess how they get there. And thank you for not making Reece a bad boy slut.

I'm not gonna lie I've had this one on my Kindle for a while but because I've had so many books on my TBR that were releasing sooner I've held off. Suddenly it seems I keep seeing posts about how great of a book it is and I can't take it anymore so it shot to the top of my list. Thank random Facebook and Goodreads posts for pushing me!! This book was so great!

I was completely and totally hooked by 4% in.

I fell in love with Pepper right away. I know some people will be turned off by her virgin status but Sophia got it so right in this story. Pepper never felt overly innocent to me. Instead she just came off as steadfast in her belief of saving herself for the right person, even if she might have the wrong idea of who that is.

Reece was sexy sure but from the first time he and Pepper met you can see that he's so much more than that. Turns out he's loyal, responsible, hardworking, smart and caring. Totally swoonworthy!! *sigh*

It was frustrating to watch as they fell for each other but neither one would fess up to it. I just wanted to shake them both bit especially Pepper for knowing but refusing to veer off the course she has set for herself.

There is so much of this story that I loved but my two favorite scenes by far were the spaghetti & meatball scene and the scene when Pepper returns to school after Thanksgiving. I think I fell in love with them as a couple in the spaghetti scene.

*I received an ARC from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest reveiw.

I liked this book up until the very end, when the author decided to ruin the experience by not only saying that a birth control pill is effective more or less upon instant use (as Pepper could only have been on it for two weeks at the time she mentions it) and not the real amount of time it takes, which is THREE MONTHS, but she then went on to add that the pill is so great that condoms are now unnecessary. Sorry, have you or your partner ever been drug tested? Your mother was a drug addict. The chances of you being exposed to something are actually quite high. Ignoring THAT part, condoms should always be used. The pill is not 100% effective, which is why any decent gynecologist or regular doctor will recommend using two forms of contraception.

The moral of the story is that these books, if they are going to make the effort of mentioning the characters are practicing safe sex, should actually demonstrate what safe sex is, and not a fictionalized version of it.

Foreplay, Sophie Jordan’s first foray into the new adult genre, is completely fabulous. Foreplay is at the top of my list for best new adult books so far.

Sophie Jordan is an amazing author at whatever she does. I’ve read her YA, her historical romances, and now her NA and she truly does bring her own flair to each genre. The NA books already out there are getting a little typical but that’s not the case at all with Foreplay. The story is really fun.

Reece and Pepper are awesome characters. Pepper is very sheltered at first. She doesn’t have experience with guys and she really doesn’t know how to act around them (especially Reece.) She’s adorably awkward. Reece is the exact opposite. From the moment they first meet, it’s clear Reece knows what he’s doing. He’s subtly sexy in the way he acts. Together, he and Pepper make an odd couple but they’re perfect together.

Pepper’s friends are hilarious, if not the smartest. They help Pepper come up with her plan to get Reece to teach her foreplay. They also help her screw up the plan a few times and fix it when she screws it up all on her own. They were true friends that were legitimately there for Pepper.

The story, like I said earlier, is fun. There are some rather predictable moments throughout but not too many. It also wasn’t an overly angsty story. There was some angst and there were times I wanted to smack Pepper, but overall it was pretty angst free. It’s one of the less dramatic NA books I’ve read.

Overall, Foreplay is a must-read for fans of new adult or fans of Sophie Jordan. It’s a great start to The Ivy Chronicles series and I’m eagerly awaiting the second book.
