Honestly, my least favorite of the series. It was still a great book, just not as great as the others.

Things are getting intense now with this series. 4.5 stars for this book that had me laughing, yelling and my heart in my throat a few times.

The world building and magic system in this series is vast and complex but unfolded throughout the series in such a way that it make it easier to taken in and understand. It is such a unique take and great combination of urban fantasy and dystopian with mythology, divine magic and a really different take on supernatural beings. The FMC is a total badass as is the MMC and their grumpy v grumpy dynamic makes from some great banter. I love how much character development there is in this series as well as this book and that it includes a number of the side characters. This book was a little heartbreaking in a few places, one in particular had me screaming NOOOOOO in my head.

What to expect:
- Supernatural creatures
- Mythology and Diving Magic
- Found Family
- Lot of action, fighting and violence
- Secret Identities
- Political intrigue
- Dystopian Urban Fantasy
- Witty Banter

I was reading a few older Ilona Andrews blog posts tonight (yes, that's my idea of a good time on a Wendnesday night) and I came across one where they were talking about how a fan almost fainted when she saw them and how it wasn't a big deal. At first, I snickered to myself...but then I thought, what would I do if I saw IA? I WOULD TOTALLY FUCKING FAINT. And then, while I was lying all broken and pathetic on the floor, they would crouch down to see if I was okay. And THEN I would rear up like fucking Freddy Krueger, grab Ilona Andrews by their shirt collars and scream

OMG!!! I will be thankful every day for those reviews I read that convinced me to keep reading this series because this has become one of my favorites!! *Gasp* FAVORITE! I must add the favorite tag now!!
This is the first book I've read-- not listened to, and while I really do miss the narrator, I was able to read this one super duper fast I literally could not put it down.

Do I have any issues? Yeah. Curran messed up big time. I think he could have mentioned... the thing, instead of keeping it from her and causing hella drama. I don't wanna spoil too much, but I thought this could have been handled smarter.... but I also don't think it makes me hate his character, but understand where they both stand. No matter what, they both want to protect the other and do it in the way they think best and yeah, they eff up a lot which makes them seem more real to me. I think this is an experience they both learn from and, hopefully, grow from.

Also, one of my fave characters is Aunt B........ *sigh* I either laugh or cry at her scenes.

I'm about ready to stalk my library in hopes of getting the next book faster.

It wasn't that I hated Lorelai, though I did really want Kate to knock her down a peg. Or five, but the Lorelai situation made me really dislike Curran. And I didn't really care for his "reasons;" that felt like big heaping pile of BS hidden in the middle of a "I was only lying to protect you" sandwich. Give me a break.

You know what? I think I'm team Hugh. Sorry, not sorry. This book actually made me ship them.

Let’s just get it out there: This is one of my favourite series of all time. It’s so up my street it’s my next door neighbour.

But still, usually after the slow burn has done burning in a series and the couple is together I don’t get to feel all the feels like I did in this book. When Curran was doing what he was doing I was so confused and hurt for my beloved Kate. And then that ending oh my
