I have...very mixed feelings about Liz Cheney and her approach to this book. She ignores the fact that Trump was always unfit for office, not just since his decision to ignore the 2020 election results. She also ignores the media and political environment that was decades in the making *cough* Fox News *cough* and in which she participated and how that environment created a situation where Trump could wreak havoc on our democracy without much consequence to him.
However, I would recommend this book to any voter interested in the past few years' events. Cheney's perspective is interesting and provides potentially useful context for future conversations.

Detailed, thorough, and evidence-based account of January 6, 2021, its lead up, and aftermath. I could have done without some of the hagiography on her father, but that is a minor quibble. People who are confused about our current moment in history (it is now about a week after Trump's second term began) or about how we got here (or perhaps who are wondering how the empire finally fell, which feels incoming) should read this book.

Now this is a compelling read. I have the utmost respect for Liz Cheney, and her unflinching commitment to principle shines through on every page.
Reading through her memoir, her courage is contagious and it is obvious how much of a beacon of hope in a political landscape often shrouded in shadows she is. The memoir's title drew me in at first, I am in awe of her backbone and resilience in the face of adversity, and her willingness to stand up for what she believes in, as evidenced in the book's title, even when it means going against her own party.
Liz Cheney's story is a powerful reminder that politics can be a noble pursuit, and that courage and conviction can make a real difference. Her memoir is a must-read for anyone interested in politics, history, or simply inspiring stories of courage and conviction. An insightful read through and through.

I agree with Liz Cheney on virtually no policy position but this was a sharp, thorough memoir. On audiobook she used lots of clips of testimony which was helpful.

I listened to the audiobook, read by Liz Cheney. Every American needs to read/listen to this book. And please vote in every election!
Anyone thinking they'll vote for Trump again in 2024 should read this. This is an awesome refresher on what happened leading up to January 6th. Cheney presents all the facts stressing how important it is to understand what happened and who did what. Anyone voting in the next election should read this, but especially those considering voting for Trump.
Liz Cheney is a Reagan and constitution fetishist and boy does she remember the election of 2000 very differently from how I do. However, she walks the country-above-party walk and this book is undeniably important. It sets out in detail everything surrounding J6 and the [actual and potential] aftermath. She's also a delightfully petty bitch and I AM HERE FOR IT.
