Incredibly objective book on commitment to our US Constitution and the President (Trump) with no such commitment to the constitution or to telling the truth. I really appreciate and respect Congresswoman Liz Cheney’s work on the Jan 6 committee and this book making it easy to follow. While I can fully acknowledge that on policy, Congresswoman Cheney and I are on different sides, I’m grateful she was willing to ask the hard questions about January 6th knowing her election would likely not be successful if she didn’t sign the party line. This kind of integrity is what we need more of.

I don’t agree with Liz’s politics, but she is brave and this book is well written. It details the 1/6 special investigation and serves as a warning for what we now face as a nation. It’s very sad and scary and disappointing in a lot of parts. However it is also inspiring some people’s commitments to our country and preserving democracy. The book is well written and thorough. I would recommend this one

This is an accurate description of what happened during January 6th and the hearings that followed. I’m a liberal and I am also #teamcheney

You don't have to agree with Liz Cheney's politics to embrace the sentiment of this book. Politically, I could not be more different than Ms. Cheney. But, this book will frighten you and make you realize no matter their party affiliation, no matter their policy belief, we need more people like Liz Cheney in government in order for our system to survive.

I mean...yes, it's gripping. I tore through this in less than 48 hours, which for an audiobook when I don't have long car rides to listen during anymore is practically unheard of these days. Liz does a fabulous job of narrating, and I really enjoyed the audio receipts that were added to the audiobook.

There are some BUTs, though.

-the people who really need to read this never will

-as horrific as everything election denial and January 6 was--and it absolutely was--the author is seemingly OK with everything else he did while in office. She voted with him almost all of the time, after all. I give her all of the respect for sticking to her principles here and following through with her convictions, but where were her principles during his 4 years in office? We're rewarding her for doing the bare minimum here, simply because she's one of the few doing that barest of minimums.

- so much GOP elder statesman name dropping. Yes, we know you're connected. (Yet at the same time she also told us her chief of staff's first and last name and title a good 90% of the time when she mentioned her. And she mentioned her A LOT. Amazingly, I didn't need to be told her title after the first 20 times I heard it)

-a bit repetitious at times. Some is necessary, but there were times she'd repeat something she had just said. Could have been a smidge more tightly edited.

I hemmed and hawed about reading this, but ultimately I'm really glad I did. I really do appreciate all of her and the rest of the committee's efforts in their investigation, and it was fascinating to see it all from behind the scenes. It just all feels like too little, too late, though, and that's depressing. And scary AF.

Oh--and her chapter titles are GOLD. My favorite was, "You're welcome, Kari Lake." Especially once we find out the story behind it. ;)
