I offer the standard "I don't agree with Liz Cheney 90% of the time but ..." line. That being said, this is a book everyone should read.
4.5 stars - an honest and scathing report of the events leading up to, during, and after the January 6, 2021 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. Liz Cheney's perspective is clear-headed as she recounts the events that attempted to upheave American democracy. I love that she used actual audio clips from events and was not afraid to call out political figures by name. I learned a lot about these events, and there were multiple times where I audibly gasped - like, are you serious?!
Cheney is not someone whose political views align well with mine, and I thought this book would be more a memoir about her life (which I'm curious about) vs. around the events of Jan. 6th. However, I sincerely appreciated her honesty, straightforwardness, and candor. I respect that she sticks to her values (and American values) and did/does not waiver from what is right, just to appease certain political characters.
If you don't have time to read the whole book, the epilogue is worth it alone, with the upcoming election. Would be a good read for people on either end of the political spectrum.

I’ve started listening to audiobooks on Libby when the e-copy is not available. This was one of the best audiobooks I’ve heard. Narrated by the author, the book inserts audio from testimonies and interviews which are subjects in the book. Every American needs to read or listen to this book. Powerful!

I could not stop listening to this audiobook. At work, in the car, walking the dog, wrapping Christmas gifts - wherever I could complete a task while listening, I was. I may not agree with Liz Cheney politically, or her religious undertones in this book, but I have a lot of respect for her stance against Donald Trump, her reverence for the constitution and the importance of a free republic.

Everyone needs to read this before Election Day. Who knew I’d ever respect Liz Cheney so much? She will go down on the right side of history for sure.
I don't agree with Liz Cheney's politics but I do admire her courage and steadfast support of our Constitution. Everyone should read this book but those who need to the most probably won't.
While I disagree with her political views, I appreciate her standing up for what is right when it comes to the orange monster.
4.5 stars. I first took notice of Liz Cheney when watching the Select Committee hearings about January 6th. I consider myself a pretty informed person of current events and politics thanks to @sharonsaysso. This book added more information and an inside look at her experiences and interactions with those involved. I appreciate her perspective and approach and ability to put policy and people over party. A must read before this year’s election.
