I like to read political books from both parties to get a better understanding of their policies and opinions. I am on the opposite end of the political spectrum from Liz Cheney. I was blown away by her thorough account of January 6th. I deeply respect her patriotism and honor in upholding her oath to the constitution. It takes one hell of a backbone to stand up in the threat of violence to do the ethical thing, knowing you are also most likely sacrificing the career that you worked so hard for. Thank you for your service to our country.

"This is the story of the moment when American democracy began to unravel." This begins Liz Cheney's account of the events surrounding the January 6 ,2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Meticulously and decisively, Cheney, the vice-chair of the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack, outlines how those behind the attack plotted, planned and carried out the most violent act of domestic terrorism since the Civil War. After reading this book, with its moment by moment recreation of the day from witnesses, there is no way a rational person can come away not knowing that Donald Trump was the mastermind of the attack, and that he absolutely must not be returned to the White House. A must-read for those who believe in our democracy. It is, in fact, up to us.

An incredibly good book for audio. I appreciated that Cheney chose to include actual audio from the committee, as it added to the harrowing story, and allowed a deeper connection to the people directly affected by the violence on January 6. As most can presume, I disagree with Liz Cheney on nearly everything, but her writing abilities are unmatched, and I was deeply interested in her insight on this topic. Also, her hair looks so good on the cover of this book that I brought the photo to Sally's and said "I want this hair color" and got it. It looks great. Thank you, Liz!

Audiobook review: This is a book that will probably never reach the people who need it most. I doubt Liz Cheney and I would agree on more than a handful of policy issues. HOWEVER - her integrity is pure and I admire what she has done and continues to do in attempting to shine a light on the terrible damage one man has done to our Democracy. Unfortunately he has not done it alone. And at least in this book Ms Cheney has yet to acknowledge just how far gone most of her former colleagues are. If I had to choose between a violent narcissist and the woman who put her career on the line for truth- I wouldn’t hesitate to vote for truth. In my opinion every American should read this even if you *think* you know what happened January 6th. Maybe as the months drag on and the blockades become more and more extreme- she and others will see it is not just one man, it is a huge percentage of an entire party. This was very well done. Thank you.

well-written, personal tick-tock of how the former guy tried to hold on to office even as everyone around him told him he'd lost. really ties everything together.

This was one of my most anticipated political non-fiction books of the year and I must admit Liz Cheney did not disappoint. If you're looking for someone who is willing to critique and hold the Republican party accountable for it's current demise, this is the book to pick up. Not only does Cheney address the issues associated with the 2020 election, but also the truth behind the January 6th insurrection. While Cheney and I would fundamentally disagree on a lot of different things, we agree that this next election will determine a lot. Oath and Honor is a cautionary tale of what is to come if elected officials begin to disregard the pillars of the Constitution. Cheney put her entire career on the line by having morals, ethics, and values and respect for the democratic process that is the foundation of this nation.
