Required reading for every American. I listened to the Audible version read by the author. This is a straight-forward, fact-based description of the events of January 6th and a call to action for everyone who values the rule of law and the US Constitution. Liz Cheney is Republican royalty who brings a unique perspective to what being a Republican used to mean before the Party sold its soul to Donald Trump and his followers. Before you cast another vote, read or listen to Ms. Cheney's words with an open heart and mind.
It insane that even with all this evidence we have signed up for at least four more years of violence, instability and madness.
While I know she’s not blameless, I respect the hell out of Liz Cheney for finally standing up and telling the truth about Donald Trump. I worry for her safety after January, and the ending of this book reads especially bleak this November 2024.

This has been a beneficial read, as it helps us understand how our country and government have reacted to January 6th. I do not always agree with Liz Cheney politically. However, my respect for her is great, bolstered by this book. She is an American through and through and wants to see justice carried out for those on the wrong side of the events leading up to and on January 6th. I also appreciated her attention to detail and explanations of procedures and policies in the book.
Just realized I haven't updated my goodreads in so long lol. I finished this book months ago.
It was really good. Enlightening, truly disturbing, and reads a little too close to apocalyptic/dystopian literature for my liking. I thought it was really interesting to get to hear all of this from the perspective of someone on the inside, especially someone from the republican party. Highly recommend the audiobook because she reads it, which is cool. She also includes clips of audio from other people's speeches, which is also cool.
Needless to say, this book gave me some mad respect for Liz Cheney. Her integrity shines through, especially in the end. I wish she was still in office.

With this book, Liz Cheney accomplishes something I thought impossible,it caused me to think fondly of her father. Liz has integrity and the courage of her convictions. From a policy standpoint I have little in common with Liz, but her stand for our Republican and our Constitution is admirable. This book is a well written memoir retelling the events following the November 2020 election and the January 6th Select Committee.
If you believe in truth, courage and the constitution of the United States, I highly recommend you read this book! Having lived in Wyoming for a few years, I fell in love with the land, communities and people there. Today I am deeply saddened by what the voters of that great state did to Liz Cheney, true patriot!
If you’re thinking about voting for Trump in November, read this book ASAP. It clearly lays out why he should never hold any political office again.

While I agree with almost nothing Liz Cheney believes politically, I have nothing but respect for her. She is a hero. I wish that everyone would read this book. It is important.
Let me preface this review by saying I don't agree personally with Liz Cheney's politics. I'm not a conservative. I do, however, respect the hell out of her for standing up in a hard and sometimes dangerous situation to do what she knew was right.
This book tells the story of January 6, 2021 - from before the 2020 election results were announced, to the infamous insurrection and the trial after. Liz Cheney tells this story from a place of being ousted by her own party for doing what her conscience told her to do. She has receipts and sat on the January 7th committee and, therefore, has full insight into everything that went into that horrible day.
I find it disheartening just how many people knew what they were doing was wrong, but perpetuated the big lie anyway. The amount of government officials who referred to Trump negatively ("the things we do for the orange Jesus") and went ahead and bent the knee to him anyway. It is heartbreaking what our elected officials are willing to stoop to in order to stay in power. I can only hope for more Liz Cheneys willing to stand up and speak truth to power.
