This book is terrifyingly honest. Regardless of party affiliation, all citizens should read this book as they prepare for the 2024 election. An excellent explanation of the tragedy of January 6th and a strong warning into the horror that will follow a second Trump presidency. The audiobook was especially effective as it included recordings from actual speeches and testimony from relevant individuals. Very poignant.

This book could be labeled a thriller because of what could have happened to our country on and after January 6, 2021. I may be on the other side of the aisle in my political beliefs from Ms. Cheney, but 100% behind her on this topic.
Her book is a compelling account from someone who was there throughout the the attack on our Capitol & worse our Constitution. People need to read this book and understand what is at stake in the 2024 election if Donald Trump is elected again.

Everyone I know should listen to this book: her own words in her own voice, the words of others in their own voices. I keep thinking of her closing words in the book. We can survive four years of policies we don't agree with; we cannot survive someone who knowingly and intentionally throws off the Constitution for personal gain. I do not agree with a single one of Liz Cheney's policy choices, but I respect the hell out of her. I respect her strength and courage. She embodies leadership and devotion to country. I could critique her love of Reagan, her energy policy, and even her nieve lack of foresight before November of 2020, but I cannot fault her brave actions between then and now. I cannot say she is not a principled leader who will put country and the Constitution above all personal or political gain. I say again, everyone I know NEEDS to listen to this book.
As someone who watched all of the Jan 6 hearings, it was interesting to understand how they came about. Cheney seems to be a true servant to our nation, it is unfortunate that she is in a party whom often does not honor their oath.
Must read! She has integrity and that will be on the right side of history.

Cheney notes in her well-written book that during the January 6th investigation by the House committee, a young woman told her she probably wouldn’t agree with Cheney on a single policy issue, but that the young woman respected her for the efforts she was making on the committee. I agree completely. The book clearly reflects Cheney’s competence and intelligence as well as her commitment to democracy and the country. Her own narration of the audio adds to the power of her words. This is an accessible, insider view of January 6th, the Republican Party, and what it really means to be a patriot.
