I started this book with hope for our country, I am finishing it in complete sadness. “We cannot allow Donald Trump to be POTUS again”, yet… here we are. I hold deep sadness for this country as we enter what will probably be a very dark time in American history. Having all this information available and still voting for this man is nothing but ignorance. I am sad and I hope everyone gets what they voted for. I hope gas is .99 cents and they sell houses for $10. I am not a religious person, but all I can do is pray for our nation. I will grapple with the idea that all this information is available and people will still vote for a sexist, racist, predictor. I hope the price of eggs is worth it.

Liz Cheney tells her story about the lead up to the insurrection on the U.S. Capitol on January 6 2021. The unfolding of events, before, during and after the attack are shocking at best. Her courage and principles have made me a fan of Liz, even though I don’t agree with her politics. Give me honest and honorable any day.

Anyone considering voting for trump and has a slightly open mind, should read this book.

Read for book club. It was interesting to hear about the aftermath of January 6 from a relatively sane Republican, even if my opinions differ sharply from hers. Pretty self-congratulatory, but what else can you expect from a memoir written by a politician?

Every American should read this book, but none more than the ones who will refuse to read it.

I’ll probably come back to this at some point but Trump just won the election and I can’t spend more time than I already am thinking about him.
