Easy book to pick up and read some genuinely great short stories. The characters are nearly invisible in the first story, as if Murakami is writing about the feelings, where characters are simply a vessel.
Not a particularly 'romantic' read, although the stories do have romantic desire as the setting.

i dont remember this book. i picked it up from shahds floor, and its on my bookshelf. i should return it.
Normally, I would give a high rating for Haruki Murakami. However, I feel a certain fragmentation, in the sense that the love stories made more sense in the books they were taken from. Individually read, they don't offer the lesson they normally would. Maybe it is a starting point for those wondering if they should start reading Haruki Murakami, but I would just recommend picking any book written by him and not fragments of his works put together under a certain theme. Quick read, though.
'Everything is blowing up around us, but there are still those who care about a broken lock, and others who are dutiful enough to try to fix it … But maybe that’s the way it should be. Maybe working on the little things as dutifully and honestly as we can is how we stay sane when the world is falling apart.'

Interestingly enough I feel like each story stuck with me more than the one before
The Second Bakery Attack
On Seeing the 100% Perfect Girl One April Morning
Birthday Girl
Samsa In Love
-> i liked this one, maybe even the most
A Folklore of my Generation: A Prehistory of Late-Stage Capitalism
-> ok so this one i want to revisit when i can interpret it better, for now let’s see what people have to say about it
